Re:Need quick answer regarding EGT !!!!!

I can turn my Comp off (even in EZ mode) and not set an overboost code. Then again, I can remove the Comp and turnbuckle altogether and push 23 psi and not set an overboost code so who knows. And yes, that is 23 psi withOUT a turnbuckle on the wastegate.

Re:Need quick answer regarding EGT !!!!!

With stock injectors on a 24V the ECU will start to defuel when it sees much boost. (around 20 psi) and eventually while boost is getting higher will know that it is now at only let's say 50% duty cycle the boost must fall below the threshhold. If it does not fall, because you have installed some big injectors the ECU will set a code saying that there is something wrong.
When you take an EZ (or a comp in EZ mode) with stock injectors and the boost elbow the EZ will modify the fueling instruction and will tell the ECU that there is just that much boost so it will not defuel. When you remove the EZ and leave the boost elbow on the ECU will defuel for you and therefore effectively reduce EGTs (Simply because there is not enough fuel to heat things up)
If you have an EZ without the elbow, the EZ will try to dump in fuel to achieve the power, the wastegate is open, not much air, high EGTs (I think that there is some limiting inside the EZ to avoid damage)

Just my 2c

AlpineRAM

Re:Need quick answer regarding EGT !!!!!

thank-you AlpineRam! that was a most informative post. Seems I've been doing the opposite of what I intended -- I need to get that elbow on there, and sooner the better.

to make sure I understand: you're saying that the overboost code comes only after the ECM has tried to defuel in response to high boost pressures, and that if the boost pressures do not fall back down, it will set the code.

Anyone know where to get those factory hose clamps so I can return things to stock conditions when I want to?

Well hey I made it and the Cummins is still in working order. I set it down to level 1 and didn't push it too hard.

Now get this, I had to pick up more then was originally planed. I ended up getting 15,000# of cargo The trialer weighs 9,000# and the truck I would imagine must be 8,000# ?

That makes 32,000# ;D

Why dont you just call Edge products? I would think they could answer your question.
