The everstarts from Walmart are about $60 a piece. I think they are rated at 1k cranking amps.

Those cheap Wallmart batterys don't compare to Optima or Odessy. They don't rate the the CCA the same way. Those cheapies will have about 1/2 what an Optima will and will only last 1/3 the time.
I don't know why they even sell the old fashion acid batteries! I guess a lot of people don't know any better.

Why get a diesel for power and longentivity and then put in an inferior battery?

You know the saying, pay now or pay more later.

I agree.
I would gladly pay $100 more for a redtop and not have to ever deal with corrosion again.
I started using redtops on all the farm trucks, tractors and equipment nine years ago. 23 of them so far, even the oldest one is still cranking strong, terminals absolutely spotless even though they've never been cleaned once.

My only regret is they don't make a smaller one that would fit on a lawn mower.

I also think they are the more powerful of the group with 1125ca, 900cca and and 155 minutes reserve capacity.
That is what I use D31A Yellow Top, they are AWESOME!!

Of coarse! the biggest most expensive battery you can buy, but for most of us a RED TOP 800CCA will do just fine, with the longest warranty.

A Costco or Sams off brand acid battery is not even close to the quality of an Optima.
The best acid battery would be from Johnson, Interstate or Diehard. Very distance 2nd to Optima.

- one other vote: Check out Costco, they had the highest CCA, best warranty, and lowest price of anything I could find around here -

had really good luck using batteries from SAM's club.

there's pretty good about delivering the highest CCA for the dollar spent. prices have been slowing going up, but last full size truck batt with 1k+ CCA was aprox. $65

are most folks staying with two batteries or switching to one monster battery?

well on tuesday afternoon I ordered twin Odessy p-2150 's for my truck. they have a 4 year free replacement warrenty. and that gives me 4300 cranking amps of power, maybe I could drive to work on the starter alone ???? with that kinda amps ..l. well as for the price the total came to $459.90 for two batterys and $80 shipping. = a total of 539.90 but they have a 12 year serivice life so you have to look at that before you all say I am crazy....

I'm curious as to how the batteries are rated different? I had both my everstarts tested before buying them, one was 1003 amps and the other was 1006. There rated at 1000 CA's so i would say they are rated pretty close.

Anyone heard of Orbitals? I've been told they are the same manfg. as Optima, with a different lable on them. I can get two of them for about 160 through my brother's shop.

Anyone have any experience with these?
