Need New Batteries
Well it appears I need some new batteries. Question is Which ONES?
I looked at the yelow and red top optimas. Kinda expensive is the yellow worth the extra money?
Thanks in advance!

About a year ago I installed two Everstart extremes (the yellow ones) in my truck from Wally world. I must say that for the price they are great batteries. I was kind of reluctant when I bought them, but due to lack of funds at the time went with them on a friends reccomendation. They have served me well, even when being abused.

If you use the yellowtops (which I would have no problem using) make sure and look at which ones you are getting. Optima has a commercial yellowtop that has a much better warranty than the standard it is double the other yellows. If I recall only the 31a and 31t come with the better warranty. I also think they are the more powerful of the group with 1125ca, 900cca and and 155 minutes reserve capacity.

The blue ones are for marine use.......so they are supposed to be able to sit for long periods of time between uses. But the red and the yellow...just like they said above, if you let them discharge and sit for awhile they are pretty much toast!!! But all in all GREAT batteries!!

Which batteries have a better reserve capacity? I've got a little fridge I like to leave running sometimes and the truck definately doesn't crank as hard after running the fridge overnight

well if you want the best, the bighest and baddest ones out there, ODYSSEY PC2150-T they put optima to shame. 4 year free replacement and 8-15 year service life. But I don't want to here any whineing when you see the price tag of 240-250 per battery. but with that size you really only need one. I am thinking of buyying two of the 2150. thats a total of 4300 cranking amps that should make a truck happy on a winter day

The best battery for your truck would be the red top Optima with 800 CCA, not the 720 CCA, they sell for 139.99? at AutoZone.
The Optima is probably the most popular and easiest to get battery out there, you can get them at all the auto parts stores, Sears, Wally world,K-mart etc.....all Interstate Battery dealers sell them. Always a close place to get another one in 10-20 years when it dies!
