For DTT trannie call James Northum 972 467 3702, he's over in Midlothian, just south of Dallas. I highly recommend him and DTT.

Yea.. that hill can be fun loaded... friend. (also with a 96,but a 5sp) ran into the same thing... Once he got gauges in.. just did some of the free upgrades.. (modified the stock cam plate in the P-pump) and he didn't have much problems with the hill.. but he did start seeing some warm EGT by the time he got to the top... during a normal. 105+ summer day... (this was with no muffler, and stock intake....)
Once you get the trany done, gauges.. start with some of the free upgrades to the pump... modify the cam plate in the pump, and look at the governor springs.. or find the thread on here about free governor spring upgrade... (shimming the springs.) then maybe start looking at some of the otherstuff...
(KDP=Killer Dowl Pin... might want to take a look at that.. do a search...
Good Luck,
Bryan

I'm a big fan of DTT... and the quality work James Northum does.
IF you not able to go the DTT route... there is a great tranny guy in Abilene who is very famliar with the CTD trannies. Good friend of mine from Dallas area has him do all upgrades on his Dodges.
Can get name & #'s if not wanting/needing to do the rebuild from DTT.

Welcome aboard. I don't have any info to give you about your '96, but the best piece of advice I can give you is "Hide your wallet".

There's a dowl pin for the front timing case cover, that can work its way loose.. if it works its way out.. it falls in the timing gears.. or between the gear and the timing case housing.. and breaks the side of the housing..
Do a search for it.. there should be a ton of info... Its not hard to fix (prevent) but requires removing the front timing case cover...
