Will a copper head gasket hold the extra boost levels that meth puts out? Im at 45 psi on 5x5 now. Im looking for the chaepest fix so I can hold the extra boost. Every time I race I peg 1700 and hold it to win. I do not want a bigger turbo for spool up issues. So I thought Id try meth. Any thoughts or comments will help BIG TIME.

Thanks guys, mooseman

I'm not sure if a copper head gasket would be enough to put up with the methanol, might need a firering. You will gain a little with water and not have to worry about the headgasket. I think the methanol injection will make about a 250*F drop in EGTs across the range, there was a thread here in the last week or so where someone was tuning theirs and were talking about the settings and such.

With your injectors & Drag Comp...you are already overfueling your turbo. IMO Meth will add more hot boost and increase your problems, with serious potential for detonation. If your worried about loosing spoolup with a bigger turbo...you won't with a KSB1, and you'll move about 15% more air!
To answer your question, a properly installed o-ringed, on a well decked head should hold for you up to 60+ psi boost.

You simply don't have enough turbo. That 35 side is too small and will raise drive pressure up, which in turn will keep high EGT's.

If you had at least a real HX40 you'd never see near that high of temps.

Some have hold more, I be more worried about your drive pressure than the boost, I'm going to take a wild guess that your drive pressure is 60+ psi, that's as much as my twins at 60 psi.

Thanks for the replies guys. Sounds to me that a different turbo is what I should get first. Another member is useing his wits to customize my turbo to lower my egts. He sounds like he has got it figured out and I trust him. All we can do is try. I have a 16 non wg now. We are doing something with a wg 12 or 14.

Thanks Mooesman
