I mild box like an EZ work great for both of those issues but if you have an auto then you need to be carefull about power upgrades. One of the first things to do is get gauges. Good luck.

Frankie,
Its time to crack open the old wallet!!...lol. You can go mild to wild...just depends on how much you want to spend. Probably the first purchase you should make is a good set of guages. You will need a pyrometer (or Exhaust Temperature guage), a boost guage (monitors turbocharger output) and a fuel pressure guage - also, if you have an auto you should have a tranny temp guage as well. The Cummins easily accepts extra HP but you must have a more accurate means of monitoring engine conditions than the factory guages. The guages have another purpose as well allowing you to make baseline runs before you add HP - so you can see just how much you have gained.
If you have an auto you have to be conservative as to how much HP you add. Likewise, if you have a manual adding amoderate amount of HP will necessitate getting a clutch upgrade as well. The tranny is somewhat the weak link.
To turn up the H.P. you will need a fuel box or high flow injectors - there is a mind boggling selection. Look at Edge Products ( http://www.edgeproducts.com/ ), TST (http://www.tstproducts.com/ ), Bluechip Diesel (http://www.bluechipdiesel.com/ ), Diablo ( http://www.diabloperformance.com/Diesel.html ) and a slew of others. Be forwarned, most will void any warranty that you may have. Injectors are more easily masked if warranty is an issue for you.
Hope this helps.

Frankie,
My mods are mild but the made my truck pretty quick and impressive to many, check my signature for them. All work well with eachother and run good with improved mileage. If I was to do more it would be 275 injestors.

Don't forget, SuperChip just cam out with a "programmer" It's supposed to be able to clear codes, re-callibrate for tire sizes, and can add up to a claimed 80HP.
