need help choosing mods for 2001 4x4 w/auto trans
I have owned my 2001 4x4 ext cab short bed 2500 with automatic transmission and 90,000 miles since March of 2005 but want more power without sacrificing transmissions or fuel pumps.I have been looking at some options and am looking for feedback to help me decide on some parts as a package. I have looked at Banks and Bully Dog systems but don't see the level of performance that I am hoping for. I am also looking at the juice w/attitude because of the in cab adjustability. I like the looks of the jammer nozzles and wonder if they produce the advertised power in conjunction with the the juice module.I have seen a 5" turbo back exhaust and would like to include this as part of my upgrades along with the FASS 150 fuel system and AFE performance intake. Any advice, suggestions, or feedback is appreciated.

I guess it all depends on how crazy you want to get. I did my own valve body, smarty, rv275 injectors and modified the turbo for 35psi. You can see my other stuff in my signiture. The problem I have now is the ets get hot quick, and of course it also spools quick. I am happy with it! I had the Banks power pak but go rid of it, I kept the exaust.
Any more fuel and you need a bigger turbo to cool things down, then you need a tranny, yada yada. It is a very slippery slope!
I like the way mine runs and I do tow with it, It spools quick and the tc holds. It is not a rocket ship!
Good luck

Welcome to DTR!
Are you planning on upgrading tranny? You don't mention it. You mention several big power mods.... are you aware that the stock tranny won't hold up to much more than an additional 60-70 hp?

Thanks for the suggestions and the warm welcome....I'll start researching transmissions.ATS looks like they have good units but are priced pretty steep. Am wondering if a billet converter is enough or do I need to beef the internals too.

I started bombing mine at 135,000 miles and have had good luck so far. First I went with a set of gauges and boost fooler. I then bought a Superchips 3705 programmer (a mild programmer) which is where I'm at now. Recently I purchased a set of Stage 3 Jammer nozzles but I'm seriously thinking about waiting on these until I get a new tranny. So far I'm happy with the way it pulls my camper and other toys and I don't have to worry about EGT's or fuel pressure. I'm afraid to step on the slippery slope right now so the Jammer's are going to have to wait.

If your tranny is still in good shape and has yet to slip on you, you could probably get away with the TC / Valvebody setup. But if it has started slipping already ( like mine has ) then the best thing to do is to have the whole tranny built at the same time.

Like the others said if your tranny is in good shape, you could put an edge ez on there and be fine. I ran mine on my old truck with the factory tranny for two years and never had a problem. The edge ez on the highest setting comes with 65hp. Thats about the biggest you need to go without tranny and fuel upgrades if your wanting to add something, and there is still risk with doing that. Depends on how you drive it.
