if your parked the truck isn't supposed to make any boost, and they never do. if it starts and idles there may not be a problem at all take it for a drive so there is a real load on it. then go from there.

i did take it for a ride. there was no boost and the turbo wouldn't even go.

u couldn't hear a sound from the turbo. we have the air cleaner off today and we can see the turbo spin and wine. but there is still no boost. the wastegate rod doesn't even move at all either.

joe

anyone?????

as far as the actuator, you need to make the rod shorter so that you need to pull it onto the lever on the turbine housing. thats how to make more boost.

ok i just took the truck for a spin. there was no boost and no power at all. the exhaust temp went all the way to 1,200 when i floored it. as soon as i let off it went down to around 600.

how can we check to see if the acuator is working or not. maybe i got a bad one directly from banks. idk. but something is makeing me not get any boost or even spool the turbo up.

it starts up and idles fine.

just no turbo action or boost.

how much play should be in the turbine on the air inlet side?? it spins freely but u can move it up and down about 1/4 inch. could this be the problem??????

the turbo worked fine until we put this kit on last night and now we are having all these problems.

thanks

There should be no in/out play, and only a little up/down or left/right. 1/4" is way too much play, and that would probably cause no boost and high EGT's. You shouldn't be able to make the wheel hit the housing by pushing on it.

Update: according to Holset, the spec for radial play is 0.012" - 0.018" and axial play is 0.001" - 0.005".

there is no in / out play at all. there is only up and down play and it doesn't seem to be hitting the housing at all when its spun while holding it up or down. there is some resistance but its not from hitting the housing. it doesn't feel that way anyway.

WERE ARE U LOCATED HERE IN IOWA?????????

Pressurize the system with regulated air, maybe the diaphram has a hole in it or you have a bad gask. on the twin ram intake you installed.

we just pressurized the system to 30 psi. the drivers side bottom boot was leaking. but just one boot leaking could cause the turbo to not kick in and absolutly no boost??????

That wouldn't account for the lack of turbo noise either. Hook up the wastegate actuator to regulated air and see what psi it opens at.

I'm in Clinton County, in Eastern Iowa.

Mine makes boost when parked.

Are you sure the boost gauge is properly connected? I know the truck is running rough and everything, but it shows absolutely no boost?!

Something like that. Stock was ~20psi. You'll want at least that as far as diagnosing the problem, and up to 35psi is ok on the stock turbo.

So the turbo spins freely, wheel doesn't touch the housing, spins at idle but won't spool when driving?

Where are you at in Iowa? I'd be happy to help if it isn't too far.

Take the actuator rod off and wire it shut....if you still have no boost the problem does not lie in the actuator. You say you have a pac-brake in your sig....is it working correctly? A large enough boost leak will prevent you from making boost but usually you will just make alot less and slower. With a boost leak you will still hear the turbo spooling. I would wire the actuator shut and if there is still no boost or noise of spooling i would take another look at the turbine housing, making sure you didn't bend any fins and everything is installed properly.
