Need help from 99 2WD owner!!!

I just received a call from CSS regarding the springs I ordered. I guess one of the springs I have is the wrong part number. The driver's side spring is a 52039075, but the passenger's side has a 52088074, which is wrong. I need to clarify what should be there, as, I'm led to believe, the two springs should have different part numbers. It looks like the previous owner damaged the lower control arm and replaced it with one from a 98.5 3500.

I contacted Dodge and they were unable to cross reference the 52088074 part number, they told me it doesn't show in there system. They also told me the part numbers are the same on both springs ... not according to CSS!

Could someone who owns a 99 2wd take a look at the tags on their springs and tell me what the numbers should be?

There should be three numbers; A five digit, followed by an eight digit, followed by larger numerals, which will be a three digit.

Thanks in advance!
Andrew

Is there a 3 digit tag number on them (i.e., 039, 046)?

Yeah, I gave them that, but they asked for the eight digit number also and told me that the passenger's side spring was the wrong part. I called Dodge and they told me the same thing. CSS told me they would have to do further research to find out which spring it needs to be. The numbers 075 were on the driver's side and 074 on the passenger's side. Sound right to you? I'm just going by what CSS told me.

Hi Andrew,
I guess you can ignore my request in my original thread.

What is the condition of your PS spring PN tag? Is it possible that the '88' is really '39' like the DS PN? I always run PNs thru dodgeparts.cc and 52039075 is listed as a spring, 52039074 is listed as a spring but 52088074 is not a valid number. Would be cool if it was simple as that.

I just remembered I have the PNs off my 1500 springs. I replaced the stocks with Offroadster springs a few years ago and wouldn't you know it... the PNs are 52039023 and 52039024. Dodge truck springs might all be 52039***.
Its worth considering.

My originals were 52039020 DS and 52039018 PS on the 1500. The DS spring is always heavier due to the fuel tank and driver.

I know there is a list of spring rates on the internet somewhere, I'll see if I can locate it to check the rates of the 074 075 springs

Found the list I was thinking of here:
http://dodgeram.org/tech/specs/springs.htm
Unfortunately, it doesn't show 074 or 075 springs so the search continues.

SteveB,

The tag is in good shape and is definitely "88." The darn thing has the Mopar emblem on it!

Anyway, I think the problem's resolved ... 075 DS, 074 PS. I spoke with someone at CSS and they said the springs will be shipped tomorrow ... can't wait! I'll let you know how it works out. I've heard talk about not having enough adjustment for an alignment, but I wouldn't think that would be an issue. Those Daystar spacers are 2" and can be used on a 2WD without other modifications ... we'll see.

Cheers,
Andrew
