Need advice for Tranny Please, many opions
So here I go, my signature has everything power wise I have done to my truck. I am going to dyno it before I consider which way to go with the tranny. I have read about rebuilding my tranny or adding tc vb etc.... etc.... I am leaning twards just having it replaced with a new built tranny, I am not done power wise yet but it is a daily driver so dont want to go over 500hp max as I am sure the more power I give it the more years I take off my engine life. I am guessing right now I am probably in the 400 hp range or around there. Source Automotive told me for a built tranny and triple lock tc would be 6K whick is spendy to me but I have no problems pulling the trigger, I know I want to do the tranny once and be done and not worry about hammering it out of a stop, seeing as I am a leadfoot and like blowing hondas away. Right now my tranny has no issues but I dont stomp on it out of stops either because I am afraid of killing it. Also should I regear it as well with the tranny and tc still has stock gearing and I have 35 inch tires as well. Would that help with speed and fuel mileage as well as be easier on my new tranny?? All opions are welcome and wanted. I just want to not have to worry about the tranny and just rod it whenever I want and not have in the back of my head, crap did I just break something or do that a couple more times and I am gong to regret it I know, as that is my thinking driving it right now.

I also forgot to mention the truck has 101k miles and the previous owner used it for towing and heavy loads often, 28 foot 5th wheel and horse trailer loads of wood, hay, gravel, etc.... I have not towed a thing since I bought it 3 years ago.

You are going to be disappointed when you hit the rollers. My guess is your in the 300-310hp range because you have to consider @ 20% drivetrain loss. I'd suggest one of the 3: HTS, DTT & Goerend.

I have to agree, based on the injectors your running and chip. I ran with F1 Mach 1.6's (which is considered a 90 hp injector), a HRVP, and a smarty I put down over 360hp/860 tq through a 6 speed.

Not to hijack the thread...but I'm considering the same things... What about ATS diesel tranny's with the 5year/500k warranty? Looks like for the TC and tranny and billet input shaft to be a little less than a Goerend tranny, with a better warranty. thoughts??? I was looking at a Stage 2 tranny from ATS, or a Extreme Duty tranny from Goerend, with the lifetime warranty converter and billet input shaft.

I would go with the Goerend if I were you. Never heard of any problems with them. I hear there customer service is a million times better than ATS as well.

I hated spending $4850 when all was said and done on my Goerend ($3750 for the tranny, billet input, new stock flex plate, Triple disc TC with low stall, $750 shipping, and $350 to install at a local Goerend approved shop), but when I punch it now the truck RESPONDS! Too bad my truck is worth less than the tranny at this point.... But, I have put this tranny through more, much more, than my stock one and feel this thing will run forever! G O E R E N D !

Goerend brothers is my vote, I've installed a few of them and everyone is happy with them. Not to mention their warranty and customer service is hard to beat if for some reason you do have a problem.
And like listed above...it will be well under the $6k you got quoted from someone else.
