NAPA ball bearing pilot bearing...
im going with a 13" conversion with a new flywheel and want to install it this weekend, but want the ball bearing pilot bearing upgrade.
anybody have the NAPA part number handy for the ball bearing that is used for the pilot bearing?? ive found the thread in the past but no luck today. i was thinking it was a 1.5" OD, 0.75" ID, 0.5" depth bearing.
also, for those of you that have installed these, did you leave a machined lip in the flywheel??
last question, for those of you with 5 speed, 4x4's...did you leave the transfer case attached to the tranny? does it still balance well with the tranny jack?
thank you!!

Not sure about the bearing, but I did the valair conversion recently and kept the transfer case on the tranny. I had a cheap tranny jack that sat on my floor jack and it worked ok. Just remember to put something underneath the xfer case to catch the fluid when you tilt the tranny down to remove it. It's hard to get traction to stab the tranny when there's tranny fluid all over the floor.

I left the transfer case on the tranny when I dropped it, but it was hard to balance and fell off the jack. It broke the output housing which cost $150. I f I ever have to do it again I will definately drop the trnsfer case to make it easy. If you are doing a South Bend Clutch and get the flywheel I think the are already upgraded to the ball bearing. Mine was. I hope this helps.

found it! for future reference...
NAPA p/n 6203FFA.
Non-NAPA p/n 1635DC.
its 1.75" OD, 0.75" ID, 0.5" width and $18.49.
now another question:
the flywheel i got (its a Valair 13" upgrade) has a lip on the clutch side ~1.5" OD and ~0.25" height, but i am wanting to install this bearing and am thinking i can machine off this ridge to allow me to counterbore this bearing in. i'll upload a picture so that makes more sense. but looking at the photo of the south bend clutch pilot bearing upgrade on their website doesnt show this lip, so i think i'll be fine...http://www.southbendclutch.com/images/100_1406.gif
just wondering if anyone else has encountered this and what they did...???
