Mystery Switch Doesn't work for me...
For the first time really trying out the mystery switch near my house, I locked up the converter and it worked fine for a few miles. It unlocked and locked with control of the switch. Then the last time I unlocked it as I approached a red light... It didn't unlock! I turned right at the light nearly stalling my truck (didn't make a complete stop). I heard some drivetrain chatter as the rpm's went below 600. The switch is wired correctly and there is no discontinuity. I finally dropped it in N and coasted to a stop. Then I dropped it in D again (while stopped) and the truck stalled. I restarted it and drove home in 1st, luckily I was in my neighborhood area.
Has this ever happened to anyone else? The switch is wired correctly, could it have to do with the build date of my truck?
Could I ruin anything by nearly stalling and actually stalling the truck like that while in D?

You either have a bad lock up solenoid or a short to ground on that circuit. I would check the switch you installed first. Not all switches are created equal and they do fail a lot. I installed mine with a quick disconnect at the splice in the harness. I used one from a early single wire oxygen sensor. Now if it fails like yours has I can unplug the connector and I will know right off if it is my circuit or something else.

Thanks for the reply. Switch seems ok. The problem started right after I shorted the relay terminals in the fuse box under the hood and took it for a test drive. My truck was built in Oct. 1995. Exactly during the period that TST says the lock up switch might not work. But I don't know...

Anyway, I went ahead and unplugged it for now. I'll find another use for the switch in my dash, I'd rather not burn up my tranny.
