My tranny is scaring me
Ok guys, I've a little problem with my tranny. My torque converter normally locks up at about 48-50 when i'm easy on it and stays locked until I let out. Just recently it started either unlocking or slipping. I can't tell which, but I believe its unlocking because when i'm running at 55 its normally locked. Now it goes in between lock and no lock (or so i think) cruising with no load. I read a thread about the tps last night saying that the contacts can get dirty and cause a similar problem. Has anyone on here experienced the same type of problem?
I've got a 96 4x4 auto with airaid, 100 plate in stock position, and pretty much no exhaust, and 100k miles. Am I already toasting the tranny?

My truck did the same thing and it was the tps. Before you open the tps check the voltage and and adjust if necessary. All mine needed was a adjustment. I adjusted mine about a year ago and it still works fine.

Do a search on TPS adjustment or TPS cleaning. You will get a ton of info on maintaining the TPS. Don't ever forget the search option here, a lot of info there.
