What BULLWAGON meant is that some people that are dealers are a little biased when answering certain questions pertaining to high performance items.

Biased? Of course we are. But in our case the bias comes from literally thousands of hours of testing a variety of products, in a wide variety of environments (-40F to 120F), winter, summer, snow, mud, rain and the list goes on and on.

Though this exhaustive testing process, we now have what we feel are the absolute best products on the market, and we know how they interact with one another in a given set of circumstances. Profitability _never_ enters the equation when we are testing a product, just reliability and performance (if all things end up equalling out, then profitability is the last determining factor). If all we were concerned about is profit, we'd sell nothing but 40s, banjo bolts, MegaCannons, Bully injectors and Edge boxes. Indeed, each of these products has their place, and we will often recommend one of them, if a given set of cirumstances demands it. In this particular circumstance, I recommended a product which I knew would work on the customer truck, versus a product which _may_ work.

So bias? Hell yes. If I didn't recommend what I feel are the absolute best products for a customer's truck, then I'd be a lousy vendor. It doesn't mean that other products are junk (and indeed, I didn't once say or imply that), but it does mean that I feel there are better solutions.

Well, pretty close, except I do like to make money too. But not at the cost of integrity. I know it sounds hokey, but I'd rather die broke and honest, than rich and dishonest.

Edit: What really turns my crank around this place, and makes all the shipping and paperwork nightmares worth it, is when a customer calls me back after an install, and he's like a kid at Christmas time. Its a great feeling ;D

Well, I've driven most all of them and tested most all of them and some products are real good and some are real good for a limited area of use. I went through that personally with the turbos and the boxes and all the rest. I will say what I feel works best for a given application but I do not say if something is junk or sucks or ...well my air system does SUCK COOOOOOL air and I am totally bias towards it cuz it does what I claim it does...reduce EGT's better then any other. That does not mean the others are junk, maybe they work great up to a certain power level or in a certain environment or...well you get my point.

Anyway, I am really liking some of the emails and comments Rod is passing onto to me about the Fuel system I designed and its success. I really did not like the one system Rod had put together and we eventually canned that one...anything that could go wrong with it for me did. :'(

We also had issues with quality with a line of gauges we carried and the warranty evasion from that company was stupid so we canned them too. Endless rationalization and excuses, no resolve...toast.
And we have gone through our share of crap with manufacturers of my intake systems...man I get frustrated with that! So instead of settling with one thing, I continue to research and improve. I'd rather know I gave a good product and a good price then be a hoe like I have seen lately with the some of the 'start up' folks out there. What good does that do when you need after service or warranty?

Whoops I digressed...again. :

Folks need choices, some are good.

Well I just got caught up with the thread. Lotsa info!

Still not sure where I am going to end up going, but another key aspect is that I ain't hit the lottery yet, and very much need to take care of most of this one step at a time.

Is that even a possibility - keeping individual component integrity in mind?

I am thinking fuel delivery upgrades first. BTW - 120k miles on original lift pump.

Thanks all. I find this to be fun, addictive, and just another reason I won't go with a certain vendors kits.

My point was, people who are vendors haunt these boards(not just this one) and prey on unknowing people who are looking for parts. The parts I use on my trucks and the pulling trucks and tractors I work on are proven in real life....not pushed on the net.

Now that's not right. If you had not included this board in your accusation it would be easier to accept your statement. I have bought parts from the vendors here and have received better service and respect than at the local parts house. I think you owe Scotty and Rod an apology to name two on this board. What you said is just not right.

Bull Wagon, I'm not exactly sure why you've decided to single us out on this thread, but quite frankly, my years spent in the heavy diesel industry would likely count as real life. As would the 30 hot shot trucks we've built (none of which have EVER failed to deliver a load, or left a driver stranded). We've got 12 sled pulling trucks out there now, 2 of which consistently finish in the top spot, and 5 more consistently finish top 3. My own truck spends a large portion of its time latched onto loads between 15K and 30K. And we have countless 14 second trucks, a few 13 second trucks, and 1 12 second truck.

So the parts we have around here are not "pushed on the net".

We've got parts scattered around the globe, functioning in -50F, 120F, deep snow, sand, water, boats, heavy trucks, tractors and the list goes on. We keep records on the performance of the parts (I have an entire filing cabinet of test results), and anything that doesn't measure up is dropped from the line-up.

So tell me, BullWagon, what it is about you and your shop that makes you uniquely qualified to make a blanket indictment of the vendors here and on other forums?

the subject matter has been lost.

I was interested in hearing wich mods needed at what intervals would net him his goal. That is the interesting part to me. :-

This guy started a good thread and Rod has plenty of experience to offer the options. HELP THIS GUY OUT.

I come here to read about what others have done and what works for them. If someone has a part they think works as well or better (or if stock is good enough), then explain to us why you believe the way you do. In this way we can all learn. This thread has been hijacked and almost sounds like a Banks bashing thread.
