My First Dyno Run
Did my first dyno run today. 324 horse / 775 torque. I'm more than pleased.
One question tho. An earlier 24v with just a comp box on 5x5 ran 22 horse more but 16 lbs less torque. Why would that be? Do the injectors make up that much in torque or is it a combo of the ETH and injectors. Thanks
Ben

Those are great numbers Ben. I have a similar truck with an edge also. Just wondering how much your performance was enhanced with the stage 1 injectors because I have thought about the same ones. Also is your clutch slipping at all?
thanks

Re:My First Dyno Run
most people talk hp but what they really want is torq.
a steam eng. is a perfect example -o rpm no hp but pull the lever and there is gobs and gobs of torq.

Re:My First Dyno Run
Wilson,
There was a guy there that had a 2002 HO with just an Ez. His hp was in 273 and 698 for torque.
My clutch has been holding up fine. I think that not rolling the power on til 2000 rpm's or higher has helped.

Re:My First Dyno Run
Maybe I am just not really sure what these engines can dyno at but that sounds unbelieveable to me! I had know idea that they could put out that much with a simple EZ and some very mild injectors. What numbers can you get with out the injectors? I was always wondering what my truck had hp and torque wise but I know that I will never get the chance to put it on a dyno. I am also surprised to hear that your stock clutch is still in tact. Most guys I have asked about that say its under WOT in 4th and 5th is when the stock clutch begins to slip. Glad to hear the good news.

Re:My First Dyno Run
Katoom,
Believe me, I was in as much shock as you. There was no way I was expecting that much tq. from a mild setup. This is why I am wondering if the combo of the ETH + injectors made up such a big difference. Aren't the HO's supposed to respond better with injectors? I don't know, but I am pleased.

Re:My First Dyno Run
HO's respond a lot better to injectors than the SO's. A 40hp injector on an HO might actually net you ~50hp. Where as the same injector on an SO might get you ~40. However, the HO's don't respond as well to a box as the SO's do. An EZ on an SO would get ya ~60hp where as the HO might only get ~40. The HO's have higher injection pressures and different veins and rotors in their injection pump to get the pressures up there quicker than an SO. However, the SO's injection pump is a lot better for HEAVY bombing than the HO's for the same reason. The HO's runs out of pressure far sooner than the SO's.
