My Egt's Are Way Too Low I Think........

Alright i just installed my egt sensor finally, and i think my egt's are too low.

At 80mph crusin speed my egts are at 490.

Idling i am at 250.

Floored i cant get it to pass 780 with the chip in 5.

Should it be getting higher?

I dont have my pump wire tapped anymore though since i just put the new vp44.

But i still have stuff done, look at the sig and tell me what you think. It seems low.

Where in the world did you install the sensor? I have mine on the manifold. I'll get 700 degrees driving 65mph . 1100 degrees when accellerating hard

Actully , in some senses it seems pretty low but not if its in the downpipe, now the injectors really wont affect your egt without the wire tapped, really depends on where your probe is! 300-350 is normal on idle

there will be approx 300* drop going from pre to post turbo. it takes alot of heat energy to spool the turbo.

The probe should be installed in the exhaust manifold before the turbo.

you can reinstall if you want and just put a plug in the elbow where you drilled originally or just figure whatever you see on your gauge plus 300 degrees like dodgezilla mentioned. It depends how acurate you want the sensor to be.

Pretty much... Just seal up the hole and re-position it on the exhaust manifold.

Not always. At an idle, the pre and post readings may only be out 50 degrees or so, but at full throttle, can be as much as 500 degrees.

just a note, IMO it would be best to have the Probe on the back half of the manifold , Being it gets less air flow and builds more heat! Its really just a personal opinion!
