Straight piping your truck will make it louder. There's not much difference at idle, just a little bit more turbo sound through the exhaust, but when you get on it it'll roar like a semi. ;D You will also see lower EGT's. You probably won't see much power or MPG gain.

I put one on my 89 and it was awsome from a sound standpoint. I put one on my 99 and with the resonator still on, it gave it a basier sound but not real bad. Then I chunked all of it and went to stacks. Even more betterer. ;D

Lower EGT and a small increase in noise. Well worth the money!

When I bought my truck, it was straightpiped. A bit loud and kinda drones at freeway speeds. To get it registered I had the stock exhaust put back on. Much quieter, but with less seat of teh pants throttle response.

I think I'll end up somewhere inbetween...as in 4" exhaust with straight thru muff.

I took the muffler out and ran straight 4" pipe to my rear axle, there I put a 45 elbow on. It was real cheap and it sounds great. ;D
