mpg comparison
lets say you were going to choose between smarty and XZT+ and you were going for an upgrade that would yeild maximum mpg gains. Which one would be better, assuming that you drive the truck as a daily commuter and not very hard at all...to that end we're talking most likely running smarty on a level 3 or something while comparing to XZT+ where it maximizes mpg (come may say timing only econpmy setting or as others have observed on the fuel + timing setting which they have reported better mpg gains)
looking for gains in mpg...what do you guys report (with each setup above)?
also looking for a bit better acceleration from standing to say 30mph like for around town driving...but most importantly what are my options for max fuel economy gains...the price of diesel is getting out of control!

I can only compare with the Smarty vs Edge EZ. The EZ gives better mpg, but the difference isn't huge, maybe 1 mpg. I believe the reason is because the EZ adds more timing than the Smarty.

smarty say's it'll give you 2+ mpg on their fuel saver mode...EZ is good for a 3+mpg gain? if so on what setting?
I'm interested also to see the mpg gain numbers on the XZT+ from those who have had it on for a few months and are keeping track...especially since some observe better mpg from the performance setting (timing+fuel) over the economy setting (timing only)...I'd like to get numbers of mpg gains from each

I get decent mileage with my Smarty, but I can't say that I get any better mileage with the "fuel economy" software than I get on #9! Granted, my Smarty has some old software in it, so my results might be very different than other Smarty users.
IMO, fuel economy is not the reason to get a Smarty. You want something cheaper. The reason to get a Smarty is the killer bottom end fueling and tq mgmt elimination. The Smarty is a hot-rod aggressive responding piece of electronic hardware-- not for mild mannered driving. It does what no other 24V mod has done yet in terms of combination of features.
From the perspective of a return on investment, I think the Quad box would be much more appropriate for what you are seeking.

IMHO if you are wanting MPG gains, get the cheapest used timing box you can find. Much greater return on investment.
I don't think you get much data on threads like this b/c milage increases are not what most of us are looking for.

Not meaning to jack the thread.. but does anyone know any stats on using the fuel saver software mpg gains on the smarty vs. driving it easy on #8? because the fuel saver takes its ***** away and alotta times gotta get into the throttle to get up to merge speed...
