more power?

A friend and I were thinking of installing the banks quickturbo w/ wastegate and the high ram intake to squeeze some more power. We hope hoping we could spool up quicker at lower rpm's. would this help? anyone have any thoughts? we current run 2000 3500's 4x4, 4.10 gears, power edge ez, bhaf, boost & pyro, fuel press. warning lights, stock exhaust with resonator and muffler cut out.

275 injectors will give you a bit more pep and still be good with the stock turbo, if ya want to go even bigger with the injectors then you will be looking at more turbo to keep egt's lower

I can't offer any expert comment but I can tell you I just recently upgraded from Bank's Stinger system to the Stinger Plus which included the quick turbo and big head wastegate along with a Stinger Plus fuel plate. My boost went from 22psi to 34psi with a very noticeable change in power. Can't wait to try my 11m lb. trailer on it.

The Banks turbo will slow down your spoolup. It uses a bigger turbine housing for lower restriction at high RPM. If you want quicker spoolup, get a Mad Catcher ECM. If you want more power, do like Kevin said and get injectors. The High Ram is a waste of money, too. Just eye candy, I've seen several 700+ hp 24 valves and none of them have a High Ram. If it was worth much power you'd think they'd use it.

We were also thinking injectors, but our thoughts were we also needed more boost to go along with the injectors. The local banks guy said we would get another 5 psi with the turbo housing and high ram. Currently our max boost is 27 psi. We also run the jacobs e-brake. These trucks pull real well, we are just trying to get more power to help pull through the dead spot between 3rd and 4th gear. We pull pretty heavy( ive been across scales at 35000) so egt's are a concern also

Well I think you should go for injectors- my suggestions would be DonM's Mach somethings. I'm running 3s but I don't tow. More boost will come from the additional fuel and from an adjustable boost elbow (TST for example) - This and for your towing needs it might be wise to go for a bigger turbo. Maybe a hybrid or a B1. Spoolup will be quicker with bigger injectors if you don't mind a bit more smoke.

The reason your local guy said you'd get more boost is because the Banks wastegate actuator is adjustable. The wastegate is what's keeping you at 27 psi right now. If you do like AlpineRam says and get an adjustable boost elbow you will get more boost.

The ez with dd2's are a real nice tow setup with a hybrid 35-40. I went from this setup on a ho truck to 2.5 edm's and they were to hot for a single turbo pulling heavy. The two's and ez wouldn't get over 1200 hardly at all and the edm's would get over 1200 past half throttle. I was told when I went to them they were to hot but I had planned to put twins on the truck and didn't get it done. I've moved to a p-pump truck and an auto now. The ez is a little calmer on the HO than it is on the SO I just put it on.

so injectors and an adjustable boost elbow is the ticket. So with this installed what should I set the boost at?

By the way, being new, please define dd2'S, and 2.5 edm's. All of your input is greatly appreciated. I have been monitoring this site for a while and have found lots of cures for all my bugs. New cab, rear speed sensor, harness rear speed sensor, getting rid of KN, i am sure the list will continue. thanks!

DD2's are level two injectors from Diesel Dynamics. Here is their website:

http://www.dieseldynamics.com/home.htm

2.5 edm's are injectors from Formula One Diesel. Make sure you read the FAQ's. Here is their website:

http://www.f1diesel.com/page1.html

When I got my injectors, EDM's were either not availible or not on the map yet. Today, I would probably go with EDM's from all of the great things I have heard about them. I may even get some one of these days. Read my sig. With my setup, I have no problem pulling a 11,000 lb. enclosed bumper pull car hauler. Not near as heary as what you are pulling, but it pokes a big ol hole in the wind. My future upgrades are a PDR 35, ATS manifold, a PDR camshaft, and by then I doubt this stock clutch will hold anymore. I have not had it slip yet, but I have not been above 1 x 5 on the Edge Comp because of that fear. The most boost I have seen on 1 x 5 is 30 psi. I am also considering the Catcher.

Do some searches on injectors and boxes and you will find a ton of info. Good luck.

Michael
