More Injection Pump Help Please!!
2001 Dodge, 2500, 24 Valve Cummins
I found what they call a hot rod vp44 injection pump on industrial injection's website. I have noticed that many many people swear by the standard output vp44 as opposed to the high output, and I buy that. However, Industrial Injection claims to add up to 100hp with this hot rod vp44. Does anyone out there know if it would be worth the extra $350 investment to get this pump over the SO VP44?? Here are my mods for those of you who did not see the recent posts.
FASS Fuel System
100hp Power Edge Box
80hp Injectors
Below is the description from Industrial Injection's website for this pump...
Hot Rod VP44
Industrial Injection offers the Hot Rod VP44 fuel injection pump that can add an additional 100 HP to your 24 valve Cummins Diesel. IIS builds the Hot Rod VP44 with the best possible upgraded parts and electronics to ensure satisfaction. The Hot Rod VP44 is as close to a new injection pump as you can purchase on the market today. Industrial Injection’s Hot Rod VP44 performance fuel injection pump will put your truck ahead of the pack.

I need a little bit more info than that. I don't have a lot of technical diesel knowledge and pretty much know nothing about injection pumps. Out of the three, or any other pumps on the market, which one do I need to buy to best accomidate my mods with my truck?!

Didn't know Edge had a 100hp box??? Go with the SO, you'll regret a HRVP 44's idle unless you get one that idle's good which is rare!!! I guess if you get a HRVP 44, you can always rebuild your SO and have a back-up for when you get sick of the idle and want to take it off!!! Just givin' ya a hard time but I made way more power with a SO, that's all...

Hey thanks for all the comments. My Edge could be a 120? I'm not even sure. When I bought this truck it was already on and I thought the guy told me it was a 100hp, all I know is it has 5 stages. I bought an SO Pump yester day and started on the switch by getting the old one out. ****, getting everything loose and removed is the easy part, actually pulling the pump out from under the hood without rupturing a fuel line or something is the hard part! Thanks again.

The hardest part is installing the gear on the new pump. I use a mirror to align the gear. Stick with the SO pump, the HR's are for dyno queens. The SO will take you over 500hp & not sound like something is coming apart. To get the full benefit of the SO pump, you gotta get a SO ecm.

You made a good choice with the SO. I just didn't want to see you spend the money like I did for a stronger but very annoying injection pump that was cool for the first week. I still have my HRVP44 sitting on the shelf just incase the SO gives up but it will stay on the shelf even though it is way stronger on the bottom end...
