Modifying Boost Elbow

My buddy has a comp with the boost elbow, a scotty 2 w/hole, and 4" straight pipe. He's seeing 42psi out of his HX35. Is there a way we can modify the edge boost elbow to allow a little less boost? We are trying to get his EGT's under control. The scotty helped emensly (sp) but he can still hit 1400* pre turbo, it just takes a lot longer with the scotty. Thanks for the help yall.

Get an adjustable boost elbow?

I guess you could drill and tap the one you have and put a set screw in it.

Hmm. Never thought of that. We're trying not spend anymore on this than we have to. We thought about putting the old one back in but that will only allow 20psi and we need more than that. Shoot, 42psi barely cleans up the smoke from the Mach1.5's and Comp on 5x5.

Are you saying you want more than 42psi?

That is already a good bit out of the map of a HX35 and all you're doing is running up high drive pressure and adding heat to the charged air which in turn will raise EGT's. I'd try and back the boost off to around 35psi max.

If you're trying to find a happy medium between 20psi and 42psi please disregard this post

Well I guess he's talking about me. And yes, my boost is a tad high for my stocker turbo. Thanks to Scotty, my egt's a little bit more controllable, but like BB said, I can still hit 1400*. I'm looking to spend the least amount of $ as possible and control those high egts. Any help would be great.

I drilled and tapped an elbow instead of paying for one. It will close off the line for the wastegate completely and I got the parts from work. I don't remember what size tap I used, but I used a hex head set screw for the port. It looks just like the one from Piers
