modifications
I am thinking of buying a valve body for my tranny. I have done some small mods to engine and was wondering if this would be enough. I just want to do easy stuff now. ???

Re:modifications
I talked with alot of guys from different companies like dtt, ats, and suncoast and they all said that I could do it but not to go overboard on the pressure or I could blow some seals. I have it order but am looking for someone to install it. any suggestions?

Re:modifications
Jamie, If im reading him right he has a valve body ordered...
Farmer Dave, If you can pull the pan you can do the valve body...Dont quote me on this, but there prob is no more than 10 bolts and a servo piston & spring...The hardest thing is stabbin the parkin paw but you can cheat and remove the e-clip at the top of the shift linkage above the valve body and pop the linkage rod off {last step after unbolting VB}...Make sure you set the parkin brake {first step} and remove both external {were shift shaft comes out of case} shifter and detent linkage completly from the shift shaft{2 nuts & bolts}...Install in reverse but hook up parking paw first while holding VB in position {gives you more room to put the clip on} also make sure the plastic servo piston goes in straight while bolting VB up or the piston can break, install a new filter and refill with SYNTHETIC fluid.
The VB should come complete....Oh...almost forgot about the electrical plug and do it when truck is cold, hot fluid sucks running down yur arm.
Depending on the year of yur truck there might be a converter drain back valve that causes a restriction installed in one of the cooler lines by the front of the engine oil pan under the truck. Remove it and trash it, the new VB should have a different manual valve to prevent drain back.
If you leave the VB off overnight you get a good drain thru the converter drainback passage...At least a good 10 plus quarts.
With all that said your prob still asking who can do it for you but it really is easy...And if yur lucky, they will send pictured directions that are not as confusing as the above and in order. If you decide to do it and get in a jam let me know and i'll walk you thru it.

Re:modifications
I bought a valve body kit from dtt. I think that some good instructions are going to come with it but I am not sure. I got a hold of a guy from mid michigan performance diesel and he said that he coud put it in for pretty cheap, only $50/hr. I have never changed tranny fluid so I and not sure that I would be able to do it.

farmer dave: I've got the DTT stuff too and read the instructions on the VB- I think they are really easy to read and lots of pics, simple install. If you don't have practice in wrenching then do use a torquewrench.
If you have lots of experience in wrenching control your calibrated wrist torque with a torque wrench once per bolt ;D

Re:modifications
Alpine is the best to ask installation questions around here he is in europe and there is no DTT installer over there so he put his whole trans in himself from DTT you should be able to get some good info from him if you need or of course Bill K will never turn your call down.

Re:modifications
When I received my VB from DTT, it came with some really good instructions. There is some drilling involved and if the holes get too big the shifting will jolt your fillings loose. Take it to somebody who has done it at least once and they can help you if you get stuck. But, the results are awesome, especially if you do the TC and the update kit too. LE

Re:modifications
I was thinking about replacing the whole tranny but I don't have the money right now. I am going to put the vb in and synthetic fluid and hopefully when I want to do more I will put a whole different tranny in. Then the real mods. can begin. ;D
