Milage before trans acted up.

Milage before trans acted up.
I am going to get the edge ez, and the banks monster exhaust. How long under normal driving did it take for your transmissions to start slipping. And bu NORMAL I mean daily driving and pulling small loads 5k or less. Thanks

The electronics in my stock tranny's valve body just went Tango Uniform three weeks ago.
After tearing it down, most hard parts looked remarkably well for 74,000 miles, the Edge was installed @ around 20,000 miles.
Torque Converter, valve body & 3rd? gear drum were replaced.
Shifts like a whole different truck.
Sweeeeet.
Very little towing, mostly around town driving.
"It's not a dually Pick-Up, It's a 7500 pound sports car with an 8 foot trunk."

My TC was shuddering so had it changed out at 115,000kms also had VB done. The rest of the trans was in excellent shape. Have added RV275's since, no problems yet, 145,000km. I tow a 7500lb 5th about 10,000km each summer. The old TC was a funny color when it came out so it was on its last legs!!

40K, nice huh..... 4K over getting free work done! Cost me $1200 for Dealer to install new valve body. Feeling like kind of an idiot now that I have read some posts here. Seems that I may have been taken by my local dealer, as most guys fixed my symptoms for considerably less (and not by having the whole valve body replaced. I even thought about buying an extended warranty when it started to act up, but decided to see if maybe it was something simple (I had bought the truck at 30K) Mine was just taking off in second gear, then not downshifting to first upon stopping. ???? Have 60K on now with no problems since. It didnt scare me away from my new truck, but ever other person I met in the next month after my issue was like,..... "oh, yeah, those Dodge trucks are known for having Junk transmissions"...............

25k and still hasn't acted up, but I have an appointment with Dave Goerend in a couple of weeks anyway. I figure with an edge comp and Mach 1.5's, it's just a matter of time anyway.... I would rather have it fixed at my convenience.

Your poll numbers are on the low side, there are plenty of people who have exceeded 100k on the stock tranny with extra hp and no problems. It all depends on how hard you push the accelerator. That's why most folks are answering still hasn't acted up.

My transmission lasted about 158,000 miles before the plastic retaining clips broke and toasted it. It was stock and worked fairly well, other than the TC shudder at 45 mph. Now I have Goerend's transmission and have been quite pleased. I think my next step is to install one of the TC lock up set-ups using the 3 relays.

in stock form and proper driving (no flooring it and locking up under 1800rpm ) you'll last very long well over 100 000kms...if you're pulling you must have it locked over 1800rpm at all times! and never mash the throttle when locked! i think alot of people dont realize that the lockup feature on these trannies is NOT a mechanical clutch type of feature! when locked you should be cruising and not cmaintaining the same rpm....people who mash the throttle when locked up will fry it easily
with an EDGE you'll have to watch for the low rpm lockup that much more but it will hold ...thats why its nice to have a locku up switch to DELAY lockup and be able to unlock it as u get below 1800rpm while towing heavy a ranny temp sensor would then also be very nice since you're gonna be heating the fluid up a bit more since ur not locked as often....thats when you have to get fluid changes regularly if you have high hp and/or towing heavy
so i must conclude that the lockup clutch (stock one) is NOT a pulling feature and must be in engaged ONLY when the line pressure is at its highest!
with the egde and regular driving habits tranny failure will go something like this..
you're start to feel the vibration during lockup and then more bibration and then shaking a couple months later...the fluid will then get hot from the friction...debris from the friction will also get into the fluid...starts to get into other areas of the tranny...more friction now occurs..more debris..and therefore more heat in fluid...fluid gets crappy after heated once or twice ...looses its abilities...more of everythign above...and you're done....IMHO it all starts with the lockup clutch!!
