Michelin XL or XZL

Hello All,

Wondering if anyone is running Michelin military tires and what there thoughs are.

I currently have BFG muds in 285/75R16's and was looking at either the 9.00R16 or maybe the 11.00R16.

Which of the Michelin's do you run and are you stock or lifted? If lifted how much do you need to clear 9's or the 11's?

Looking for something a little longer lasting than the BFG's.

Thanks, Brian

Re:Michelin XL or XZL

I'm running 235 michelin xps on my truck. i used to run bfg's but they were to soft for the rear, so i only run them on the front. I have put over 10k on the tires in 3 months and they have lasted pretty good and have held up well with the weigth i'm pulling

Re:Michelin XL or XZL

I had the 265/75 Michelin M's on my '02...one trip to the mountains earlier this year n' they are gone. I couldn't hardly keep it between the fence posts. I understand your disappointment in the BFG's. My dad has run them for years in various sizes/vehicles etc. and they all have worn early. Kelly (if they are in your area?) seem to last fairly well under light loads, (i.e. I pulled a 17 1/2ft ski boat for three summers, 250 miles roundtrip n' they lasted well...). I am currently running Big O (again, if available to you...) 285/75 Big Foot AT's. They offer a XT, but the tread is a little more aggressive than I wanted. I mostly travel highway, but enjoy some mountains on the weekends. I have a set on my 1/2 /97 short box and love them. Very sure grip in the winter whether it is snow or ice. The new series 2003 model Big O's have a new tread design...I'm excited to see how they compare. Just my two cents... ;D

Re:Michelin XL or XZL

I believe they are military type tires, hence the odd sizing, My roomate has a land rover and has been looking into those tires, www.discoweb.com (i think), has some comments on them all good and truely abused on those trucks.

Lenny

Re:Michelin XL or XZL

I may chime in: I used 1 set of XCLs and 2sets of XL-s in the Sahara. I changed to Fulda Tramp Trac and got more mileage on the one set than on the three sets of Michelins. Also the Michelins were very bad if driving loaded. (With a Toyo HJ60) They seemed to work on lighter and less powerful vehicles. On my Toyo with 100 hp the tires would break loose in 2nd gear on wet roads.

I won't go back on them unless I get real lots of cash for using them

AlpineRAM

You should be able to get to them under this link

http://truckus.webmichelin.com/

Looking for something that is still aggresive and stands up more than BFG or the likes.

I guess maybe I should ask for the winning loto numbers at the same time
