May The BOMBing Begin...

I'm a 1st gen guy, but finally got a '97 Dually 5spd. so I'm stoked about making some real power. I don't want my truck to lose it's reliability or fuel economy, but I want more power as all of us do. I also want controllable smoke.

I did the BHAF and removed the silencer ring the other day. I'm ordering boost/egt and a pod next week, and 4" downpipe & exhaust will be coming next.

Aside from those basic mods...what should I do next and please give some details...

AFC Starwheel...what do I do there?
GSK...get the kit, or do the washer mod?
Timing Adjustment...how to?
Fuel Plate...#10 or grind the stocker?
Deivery valves...whats the skinny on em?
Intake Plenum...those things worth the cost?
Injectors...best bang for the buck?
Turbine Housing...14 or 16 or ??
I have an HX40 in my garage...should I bolt it up or hybrid it with the 35 or ??

I heard you need upgraded valve springs if you go with a 4k GSK kit?

you only need upgraded valvesprings if you want to rev over about 3400rpm. I saw 3500 a number of times w/ the 200k mile springs on my 97. accidently saw 4000rpm a couple times durring tire spin

buy a kit and definately do the 4k... grind your stock fuel plate to a #100 profile with a 215 pump you SHOULD be able to slip the stock clutch w/ just the plate...

once you get a clutch, I would go w/ the DDP4 injectors... the marine 370's are the best bang for the buck, but I think the DDP's are worth the extra money.

I can make 1600*+ at 50psi of boost on a ported head with the stock delivery valves... I've come to the conclusion that on a 215 pump w/ good size injectors, DV's just make more smoke and heat... I'd stick w/ the stockers

I wouldn't mess w/ an intake plenum... not doubting that they help somewhat, but not enough to warrant their price.

definately bump the timing to 16.5* or so... I'd go ahead and bolt up the HX40 as long as it's a 60mm compressor and a 16cm turbine housingj. I wouldn't waste your time putting a bigger housing on the stock turbo, you'll outgrow it awful quick... I made 1300* EGT w/ stock injectors at 55psi (50psi drive pressure) through a ported head. that stock turbo doesn't stand a chance!

Forrest...always a great help, thanks. You think the 140hp DDP Stage 4 Injectors are good for daily use, occaisonal car hauling, decent mileage?
