max mileage/xzt+ switch location

I was just wondering where people are mounting there switches. If you have pictures it would be helpful. Also when I hooked this up it through a check engine . Quad tech siad it was normal on the older trucks. Has anyone had this problem.

I don't have a pic but I mounted mine to the left of the steering column below the dash gauges. Be sure and put it somewhere that you can see it. I can see mine through the steering wheel.

I have one on my 98 and it did not throw any codes, it was also on my buddies 98 and threw no codes. I dont remember if the dashes are the same as some of the newer trucks have the little pocket to the right of the radiobut I have the switch ran behind the dash, up behind the radio and out the screw hole in the auxilery output plug. Its the only screw that holds the dash on but you dont need it, just pull the dash off and break the little tab that the screw screws into (mine was stripped anyway) and you might have to drill it out a little, but it looks factory and you can still close the door that hides the auxilery output plug.

They should no throw any CEL's. I did not hear the conversation obviously but, they were probably saying it is normal for the key to be left on, or turned on while installing, or a MAP sensor plug to be left off on accident and that will cause the CEL for probably 10 keystarts or so until the soft code clears.

mounted mine on the lower dash cover below the steering wheel....there's a small section of this lower cover that goes inward towards the front of the truck. Mounted it right there....no way to hit it w/the knee or see it but easy to access for on-the-fly adj.

Mine is on the left side of the column near the tilt lever for the column. I kinda wanted it easy to reach while driving but kinda out of sight from the average person. I'll try to get a pic later.

With a boost elbow you can leave it at full power towing, EGTS are no problem.
