max on auto
My brotherinlaw just bought a 96 auto truck with only 60,000 miles on it. He would like to up the power a little but not enough to hurt the trans. What would be a good combination for him. I was thinking maybe 215 injectors and slide the stock plate some. Would this even be to much? All he pulls is a 3000 lb. pontoon and is a daily driver. He is real easy on his vehicles to. Thanks

I would say an aftermarket plate would be about what he is looking for. I hear a lot of good about the #10 plate, and you can slide it back for less power, or up for more. You could play with it till you had it where you wanted it. I have about a #5 plate(dynoed 246hp/635tq), and my torque converter doesent really slip that bad except, it slips the torque converter in 4th if you lay into it hard. I do have a transgo shift kit, that i think helps it hold, but my tranny also has about 100,000 miles on it, and has been used for hauling quite a bit. not sure about injectors, but that shouldnt be to much for the tranny to handle with just some 215's and the stock plate moved forward. Get gauges too! Good luck
