Re:Marvel Mystery oil

Don't use it, the stuff has no lubricating properties.

If you really feel the need to use an additive you should give Lucas a try. I use a quart of their oil additive when I change my oil and its still brown, not black, after 6,000 miles ;D. Not trying to start a brand war, its just a suggestion .
Wheels

Re:Marvel Mystery oil

It is not supposed to have lubricating properties. It is a detergent! Your engine oil takes care of the lubricating. Mystery oil just helps keep your engine cleaner. Helps reduce detonation in gas engines by raising the octain. Shoot, and the stuff smells great.

Re:Marvel Mystery oil

If it boosts octane it does nothing for a diesel then. As for aircraft they will void all engine warranties if traces of the mystery oil is found! As far as Im concerned aircraft engines work darn near the hardest and if its no good for them then its no good my my CTD either.

My family has been using MMO for over 50 years. But only in gas engines. I use it in my bikes, ATVs, lawn mowers, automobiles but never in a diesel. It's more of a detergent than a lubricant. For a diesel you would want both. Stanadyne Performance Formula would be a better choice for me.

MikeyB

Hey uh... I like Lucas also, I use it in all differentials and transmissions, and feel like it has beneficial value, but I've had a mechanic and an Oil company rep. both tell me that if your oil is not black, it is not properly removing the nasties from the combustion process, in other words, your oil is not doing it's job.

2 Cents.
