A 62/65/13 will be better for performance. But, the hx40 and Super B will both be better chargers for towing in my opinion and still allow good power. Heck, McMopar(i think) ran 12's with an HX40. So did John Porterfield. And they both towed. The 57mm S300G(super B) is nothing like the stock compressor on our trucks. Its only 1mm bigger, but it is designed to flow much better. The HX40 compressor is the same design, just bigger by 4mm if you go with the 60mm, which will also outflow a stock charger. Not to mention they both have 4 inch exhaust outlets on them.

he351ve is 60/71-60/3cm-26cm variable 07.5-current 6.7
HX40 has different sizes most common is a 58/65 or a 60/65 with whatever size turbine housing you want. HX40 has probably 15 different comp. wheels you can run on it.

Too many focus on airflow and not on the quality of the air that is being moved. The best solution would be a set of towing twins for his application, but gearing will still have a huge effect on the ability of any turbocharging solution.

I appreciate what you are saying. However, reality is that the chargers you are recommending rarely work as well as you think they do. Both the S300G and the HX40 offer little help for actual charge air help. The benefit to both of these chargers is the swap to the looser turbine sides. I can't tell you how many guys have bought the Super B / S300G and HX40' due to cost and have been grossly let down by the unacceptable EGTs.

If you can score an HX40 60/65/14 for cheap I would sayy go for it.
You can get a brand new HX40/35 with a non-wastegated 14cm housing for $795.00.

But ultimatly I want a 62/65/14 so thats what got me thinkin about custom twins.
However, being dead set on the 62, if a custom twin set with those two chargers wont be that great.. Im fine with holdin off till 62 and new sticks come along.

62/68/14 with a super 62 wheel and a race cover from Engineered Diesel.
Bottom turbo will be the S475 I have in the garage.
Should put down 700+hp.
I'm getting tired of playing around with big singles. My new camper doesnt like them too much.

Small twins are great for towing. I'm very satisfied with the he351 over 3b. They light pretty quick and cool the 200 horse injectors with the adrenaline on setting 2. On real long hills grossing 24,000 it will climb to 1300 on the pyro but just kicking out of o.d. cures that. For a budget set of turbos the he351 is hard to beat for the little turbo. On the setting above it will make around 40 to 45 lbs. of boost with the he set on around 30 lbs.

You are right. EGT's will be higher than a 62mm charger in a performance only application. But, if he tows a lot, the 62mm chargers are a little big, and they like to run hot cruising with a load, especially when you hit a hill. Like i said, in a performance only truck, then a 62mm charger would be great. But a 62mm charger wont tow as good EGT wise as an HX40 or S300G.
Personally, id rather be a touch small on the charger than a touch big. With much fuel, a 62mm wont keep EGT's down enough more than an S300G or HX40 to matter anyways. It will just add more power.
Honestly, for strictly towing, other than twins, I think its hard to beat the stock HX35. They spool quick, and keep EGT's down good.

I have been running the 62/71/13ss for the last couple years and love it. makes good power for a smaller single, i can hit 1500 deg by the end of a 1/4 track but usually stays well under 1000 towing my boat arround with a five speed. It gets my vote in the 5spd anywhys not sure about the auto.
