Making the 4k GSK into a 3k

hi all, I'm about to buy a GSK for my truck. as I've read about here, many buy the 4k and just install a certain set of springs to try the 3k first. I'm looking at the TST spring kit here:
http://www.tstproducts.com/index.asp...WPROD&ProdID=9
and I'm curious, does the picture show the 4k kit, and if it does, which springs am I to use to make it a 3k kit?

The big difference is that you need to change the exhaust vale springs to the 60lber's with the 4k kit.

I've read that you can drive with the 4k kit without the HD springs as long as you are careful about staying under 3200 RPMs. Is that correct?

Didnt some of the 98 12 valves come with the 60lb springs?

To turn a 4k gsk into a 3k gsk just dont install the smallest spring. The kit in the link looks to be a 3k gsk. My 4k gsk that I got from piers had three springs and it came with the HD valve springs.

To oestreich84 question about 98s having 60# valve springs, this didn't occur until the 24-valve motor came out in 98 1/2 models. The 98 12-valve motors are the same as earlier models in that they have 30# springs. The 60# springs are needed for revving higher than 12-valve motors are designed to do (at least in stock form), which the 24-valve motors can do, so they don't float the valves and possibly let them make contact with the pistons at high revs. They're also good if you have or plan to install en exhaust brake.

Rocky - your explanation makes sense, but I, too, had heard that the early '98 12 valve's had the 60# springs OEM..

[confused]

NO YOU DON'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you want to rev over ~3500rpm, you need to install 60lb springs on both intake and exhaust valves...

early pumps won't rev over 3500rpm w/ a 4k kit

just don't install the smallest inner spring, and you'll be installing a 3k kit...
