What front differential do I have on my 2001.5?
The front tie rod?drag link? , whatever, is real close to my diff cover, will a mag hytech fit? Thanks!

You have a Dana 60. Yes, it will fit, but you might have to rotate it a little...

The installation requires you to swing the tie rod out of the way to install the new cover. It's a very simple procedure. Loosen the nut on the drivers side tie rod end (after removing tire), and use a persuader of your choice to pop the stud out. Before you do all of this, just make sure your existing cover does not have a hose attached to it. I'm 99% sure the switch to vented covers didn't happen until mid-2002. If you have one of those (like me :-[) the new cover will not currently work.

Re:mag hytech for front diff?

I have an 01.5 and as Commatoze said you will have to remove the one piece for install but it is no problem just be careful not to mess up the threads while persuading it out(mine came out with one quick hit with a rubber mallet). When I went to reinstall mine I thought what the heck when I went to put the nut on the stud just spun with the nut. A pair of pliers to hold the stud while I turned the nut a couple more turns snugged it up enough to keep the stud from turning more and torqued it down to spec. Also as Commatoze said the vent tube he mentioned in the cover didn't happen until a after the 01.5 model so it should not be a concern for you.
Dont be a DA like I was when I got finished bolting everything up I jumped up all excited about my new piece of equipment and not to mention the added cool factor to grab the lube to fill it up and tripped over my floor jack handle and did a face plant on the garage floor and broke my freakin hand. Went in and told my wife all she did was laugh and call me a DA telling me thats what I get for getting so excited over a truck. Later that night could not take the pain anymore went to the local clinic and came out with a splint for a few weeks. Now I try to hold my excitement down a notch.

One other thing to consider. You're forced to use the stock trackbar with the Mag-Hytec cover.
