mag-hytec tranny pan

i was thinking about replacing my stock tranny pan with a bd or mag-hytec reg deep pan. BUT according to geno's, the deep pan will NOT increase fluid capacity for '98 and up models. the double deep would increase the fluid though . . .

http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo....er=MH-727-9803

anyone ever heard of this?

to those with double deep pans - should i be worried AT ALL about it being too low?

i looked at the tranny pans also. here's the thing - according to geno's:

mag hytec holds 1.5 qts over stock pan (according to geno's equals zero over stock on 98 and up models as dodge increased the tranny pan size)
PML holds 2 qts over stock - this leads me to believe it is only 1/2 qt over stock since the mag-hytec at 1.5 over is same as stock)

is that confusing, or do you follow?

anyway - back tot he original question - does anyone have or heard of any problems with clearance running the double deep pan?

I have a mag deep pan on my 02. Holds more than an 02 stock pan which is what counts. as long as you 2000 deep pan holds more than the stock one for your truck, Then youll be good. I didnt get the double deep pan cause in below freezing temps, It takes way too long to warm up. Even my deep took 20 minutes this morning to get to normal temp in stop and go pulling 4 k's.

hey that's a good point - never even thought of warm-up times!

anyone else know for sure if what geno's says is false?

I really dont see a point of putting on a deep pan unless its the double deep. The point of changing the pan is to hold more fluid and for cooling purposes. You wont have any clearance issues with a double deep pan, it holds like 4 quarts more.

I run the double deep on mine. Highest tranny temps I've seen so far are 130 degrees with an ambient temp of 65 degrees.

wow, that's pretty low. how are your cold morning warm up times? does it take a painfully long time?
