IIRC, there were ECM's that had been tweaked a little out there before the Catcher and thats what I think you got.

If it's working for you and it's not giving the truck fits, then congrats. A kick in the pants for the truck for $100 is good any way you look at it.

I never said it was one of Marco's (whoever that is) BUT This thing works great,,I am amazed how much it smokes,And lot's of low end,, And it's the ONLY thing on the truck right now the rest is stock.
No Fit's or hicups I just notice it idles about 50 Rpm Higher than mine,, I would like to know where I can get it programmed,,OR can it be done some how with a DRB from dodge? If I can get the catcher prog downloaded into the DRB,,, If anyone knows
Thanks.

Truckman,

Glad it's working out for you. I think you will really like it.

Marco is a guy over in Italy who started the "Catcher" for the 2nd gens. You got a programmed ECM that was specific to your truck. Year, tranny type, emissions (federal/calif). If the term "catcher" is involved, Marco has something to do with it.

That has now evolved into the Smarty downloader that you read about and see advertised now. The Usual catcher ecm is now smarty software #9, unless you specified a "special" no timing version to work with timing/fuel or timing only boxes. This is equal now to smarty #8. And I am sure there are lots of other ecm variants out there.

But those kinda were the 2. Now you have the downloader. Dodge has nothing to do with it.

I had a Catcher ECm, now I have the Smarty. I like the ease and use of the Smarty, but my ECM felt a little rawer. For the convenience of the Smarty, I will deal with it.

Hope this helps.

Truckman, The MAD ECM's with CaTCHER programing were electronic Specific and and Tranny specific...not neccesarily Year specific.
If it works well your ok on that front.

But you need to find out if it's a special (non timing) ECM or the regular Mad ECM with timing. As stated, if special, you can run it with the Comp.
I would get the serial # off it and contact Bob Wagner @ http://www.smartypower.com/CONTACT.html
He can tell you!
