Are Mach II's the perfect Towing Injector....I think so!

MAN....welp...as many know i now work for DPP (FASS) as of today. WELP i had to leave my nice, warm, (Now very wet i hear) house/Shop in Texas to come up to MO on Sat. I towed my 27" Camper and watched my FRESHLY installed Optix Pricol Pryo on the trip. I was VERY suprised that i never got even close to getting into the red! The hottest i got on some of the big hills in MO was 1100* (32 PSI Boost) Pulling hard (People...i averaged 9-10 MPG on the trip..i didnt baby it)! RJohson talked to Marco and he told him that the 2001 and 2002 trucks dont defuel under high boost, just the 2000 and under....so that is another "HUM" moment! I was VERY impressed with how my truck pulled.....it was not a huge amt of weight by any means (7000-8000LBS)...but it pulled it like...well a stock truck would run empty! yeah! That sums it up nicely! ANYWAY....i still have a stright piped 3" peter tube on my truck.....(stackes someday soon ) AFE...well heck....read my sig!! Needles to say i was impressed....Kudos DonM.....just wish the dang things smoked more ( i know, i know! Get a Drag Comp dumb A!).....

Well I'd hope that it would pull a 27" camper just fine.

If you'd learn to back up you'd be alright with the gooseneck. I would have loved to see what your EGT's were reading when your intercooler boot blew off. Maybe we should try it sometime.

I wonder why everybody buys 1.6's instead of the 2's? It seems its always 1.6, 4's, or 6's and rarely 1,2,3,5,..but I digress. Glad the 2's are working good for towing.

I'm having a hum moment right now. My 02 certainly defueled and threw a p0234 code. No doubt about it. I was throwing more than 32 lbs of boost at it though =P

As I recall the chronology.. Mach 2's were developed a yr or two before the technology that went into the 1.6's...4's and 6's was on the market.

I believe the differences are minor improvements as opposed to major revamping. Less smoke and some added HP. Probably some better mileage.

In my mind the earlier Mach 2's are still great injectors and probably identical in performance to the newer 1.6's.... except maybe for smoke control when towing real heavy?

Thanks RJ. I'm torn between injectors or a replacement front end right now. I don't have the $$$ for a new turbo or clutch if the bigger sticks require them, but want more power On the other hand, a new big bumper doesn't require any other bombs, and it looks good even when the truck isn't moving.

From my expirience, I think injectors only, on an automatic, feel kind of flat and smokey. With a manual tranny, much easier to control RPM's (keeping them up).... letting the injectors do their thing.
Dan's truck is probable 280 - 300 hp. I drive mine around town at about 400 hp. I really did not miss my extra HP driving Dan's truck for 2 days....but this was empty.

Thanks guys....this is a cool thread. I'd love an all out beast like RJ's....552HP but money and towing my camper....and the baby are the factors not allowing that right now. So if I was to go with 1.6's or 2.0's....stock HX-35, and stock clutch along with the TST I could probably be around 350HP I imagine...and still be able to tow with the box turned down. Oh btw, the stocker clutch still feels like the day I got the truck....good....no slippage even with rolling hits on level 9.
