M11 Performance Turbo
I was recently looking at a site that sold M11 Performance Turbos. What are they, and what can I expect.<br>I have heard of the 40, and B-1's, but an M11 is new to me. Can somebody shed some light for me?

The "M-11" is the 11 litre Cummins in-line six engine. It uses one of several HX50/H2E variants. So, the turb is a H2E or HX50.<br><br>Just like the L10 is a 10 litre Cummins and uses the Hx40's.<br><br>Don~

Well Don, which turbo would you recommend for me. I have the stocker now, but am looking for a turbo in the next couple weeks.<br>I see you know alot when it comes to nitty gritty, so help me out. PLEASE

I ran an M-11 ona 9spd R.R in a International Daycab tractor last year floating a crop sprayer job to job.<br><br>Boy did it sound sweet! It was a mean sounding truck for sure ;D<br><br>Lots of growl and and turbo whine. I wasn't impressed with the power though. [undecided]<br><br>The truck seemed geared pretty high but still, I thought it'd have more grunt than it did.

The H2E is stronger than the HX40 but will spool slower and has a kinda weird looking exhaust housing that moves the downpipe location kinda off center. Ok. Well Don let me throw this at you. I have also located an HX55. Would this turbo be good with my mods?<br>I don't want to hurt the truck. A friend had a new HX55 blow apart a month ago. Is this a problem with the 55 or did he do a major no-no to make it happen?

Something that you may be interested in from Kurt is his new K.45. It uses a compressor that is about the same size as a B1, but has an impeller shaft thats 1mm smaller. What you'll get with a K.45 is PDR40 spool up (the KwikSpool version is a little faster yet) and the great midrange and topend punch of a B1. With your level of mods, you'd need to externally wastegate, and if you plan on going stronger on injectors in the future, then you'll want to skip by and go to the B1.<br><br>Rod

I am staying with the DD III's because I pull a gooseneck alot. Right now my egts are a problem if I want to let it all hang out. I have done everything except change the turbo from stock.<br>I have looked at prices and most of the turbos I find are an arm and two legs. I have looked in the classifieds, and other sites and found some reasonable turbos. Enterprise has the <br>HX40 for a great price, and I have found the HX55 from a classified. I cant PM you because incorrect parameters at my work computer. I will when I get home. I will call Wildcat Diesel and get some prices. Thanks for the help.<br>Jared

Thats an entry level 'charger that we keep around for the 350 - 380 pony crowd who wants to keep temps down low. Its an HX40 compressor (not a 35 compressor honed out to accept the 40 wheel) mated to an HX35 cartridge and turbine housing. Pretty tough little turbo, but it pretty much runs out of oomph at the 380 pony level. You'll be past that mark with your TST/EZ and 3's. I wouldn't recommend it for your setup.<br><br>Rod

Unfortunately, I can't buy the things without an exhaust housing. I'd suggest buying it with the non-wasted housing and then selling the housing (someone will snap it up without any trouble). Keep in mind though, that without the housing its just your basic 40 compressor mated to an HX35 cartridge. I guess you could put your stock 12cm wasted housing on it...<br><br>Rod
