Horace I had a feeling that is what would be seen on the dyno at what rpm did you start at? I too think the MAD ecm is retarding timing some in the begining and the only way to be able to see it would be to start the dyno at the lowest rpms possible. Also the one thing I really wanted to do on the dyno is compare required time from start to top speed.

A dyno will be able to show true gains from the flashed ECM. To do the test accurately one would need to establish a baseline (by dynoing that day) for the truck, and then change the ECM and re-dyno on the same day on the same dyno. Then one can overlay the two graphs and get a good comparision of the differences.
Jetpilot, this is exactly what I did. I ran every configuration I could using the stock ECM and the MAD ECM the same day. Both the TST + EZ stack and the TST + MAD ECM stack made exactly the same horsepower at 617hp. I also did dyno runs with just the TST, just the EZ, and just the MAD ECM.

Injectors 500 hp
EZ 528 hp
MAD ECM 523 hp
TST + EZ 617 hp
TST + MAD ECM 617 hp

All done the same day on the same dyno with no correction factor.

That would probably be one of the only ways to truely test how well the ECM is working. The power and the responsiveness the MAD ECM makes just doesn't show up well on a dyno but there is a definant difference you can feel on the street. I know that one person who did some testing a while back actually lost some horsepower on the dyno but was 2 tenths faster in the quarter mile after installing the MAD ECM.

Horace,

What was your HP at say 1200 rpm, 1300. 1400, etc all the way to 3250? I would expect to see more HP down low say in the 1200-2000 rpm range not on top. Did you see any differences at the lower rpm's?

Thanks,

Doug

Battering Ram, would you post the dyno graphs of all that you tested for the rest of us to see? Thanks

Its gonna take some time to grab all the files off another computer and resize them. I'll try to get all the graphs up since everyone seems interested.

All,

I have a question for Battering Ram.
Since you're the one with the longest experience with the CaTCHER ( other than the guinea pigs ).

How do you like it after several months?
Have you had any issues with it?
Have you been able to keep an eye on the MPG?

Thanks,

Marco

P.S. Before you ask, yes the same Marco from Italy...

Welcome to the site.

Hope you stick around for a while,
this ECM reprogramming could very well be the next phase of BOMBing (if not already).
