luke clutches

The Luk clutches are ceramic & they tear up a flywheel real fast. I had 1/8" grooves cut in my flywheel. I liked the clutch & gave it one heck of a beating, but after having a Southbend.....the Luk doesn't compare.

That explains it.....you have a different clutch than I had. I had the Luk HD 13" conversion, rated at 1000lbft.

Cant say I have one personally. But I got the chance to drive a buddys older style power stroke with one.. I thought every U joint was gonna snap in that old pig when I backed his trailer into my shop... It had a terriable chatter too.. Thats the extent of my experience with a Luk tho.

I have a Luk pro gold clutch that has been great for 30,000 miles on the mods in my sig. It doesn't slip, it isn't grabby and it is made by the same folks that make the oem clutches. I commute 60 miles a day, combo stop and go and highway, tow most weekends, usually around 5K and have no issues. They have a website that shows all about their product too. Take a look before you decide. I know most everyone on here says Valair or Southbend. I would have gotten a Valair, but was convinced by the folks at east coast diesel to get the luk based on their experience and my application. If you plan to make more mods than I have, consider a better clutch, but have been very happy with my Luk.

I don't drive it that hard, and I see no reason why the clutch should be failing after 30K and three years.
