Luk clutch prices
anybody know where the cheapest place is to buy a Luk Pro Gold clutch??? I know ur probably all gonna start screaming about going ahead and getting a south bend, but my budget just can't handle that & a few friends have the Luk's & they are doing very well so for now I'm gonna have to settle for what my wallet can afford, just thought somebody may know of a good dealer somewhere thanks, Dusty

Dusty, as I said in a PM to you...Not all of our clutches are high dollar. We carry clutches from stock to a little better then stock all the way to the high performance/dollar. We know that peoples wallets do not always allow the best and quite often they do not require the best. That is why we offer our Rally series. It is about 30% over stock at a nominal cost.

Well, as everyone on here knows, I will not recommend South bend, but I also can't recommend the LUK pro gold. I am of the opinion that its just not much of anything at all and leaves you no room for decent mods. I would however recommend the LUK cerametallic 13" upgrade clutch. This clutch has a lighter than stock pedal effort and very good locked up holding torque. Its a metallic clutch, not organic so it can engage a bit harsh at very low RPMs. It tends to slide and slip long if you do a very high RPM boost-up launch, and as such I don’t think it would make a good sled pulling clutch at all though. But for hot rod driving around town and towing, its quite nice. Once engaged, I cant make it slip under any conditions whatsoever, including towing. It easily handles the mods in my sig.
But lookout, now here come the 'off the record' South Bend clutch salesmen to the rescue... Peter himself couldn’t resist your post had to chime in quick. With as much time as he spends policing the forum for any clutch posts other than those selling his, its a wonder he has any time to make any clutches

Dusty, don't even waste the time on the Luc Pro Gold. Seriously consider the SouthBend. I've used them in all of my manual trucks, and have installed quite a few for people. They work great, and Peter and company are a pleasure to deal with.

I am running three southbend clutches from the CON O to the 3600lb DD in my trucks and I wouldn't run anything but a South Bend, and just as Fred Swanson said they are good people to deal with

Dusty...I bought mine at Dial-a-clutch. www.dialaclutch.com Ordered it online, and received it in a timely manner. No complaints about this company.
As for other brands...I bought my clutch, before I found this forum. I am concerned about my new pro gold clutch but what to do?...already had it, and figured I am not going to let it go to waste and buy another clutch. As for how good it is...It is too early for me to form an opinion. Luk Engineer told me it is good for up to 700 ft. lbs. of torque...and the clutch came with the alignment tool, and a new throwout bearing. Went in perfect, spent a good 500 miles breaking the clutch in, and I am hopeful it will last a long time, and cautious with how I drive. My stock clutch lasted 178,000 miles, with only 0.0015" ground of the flywheel for cleanup.
Eventually, or even now, I may need a stronger clutch for the bombs I have done and plan to complete...but, I am not going to beat it, just to see if it slips. Time will tell.

ok if a luk pro gold can't hold any mods then call http://www.drivetrain.com/ their stage 3 clutch is a luk pro gold but they use a ferimac lining on the disc, like on a southbend fe and it's under $700. my friend has the same mods as me we put one in his and he's put 15,000 miles on it,5 tug of wars and lots of burnouts, he has not slipped this clutch
