Very interesting, Bill.
I have tested Lucas before... 2 yrs ago, and did not see foaming problems. They must have changed the formulation because a product that is 95% friction modifier would not do this?

The other primary ingredient use to be a "tackifier"... a long chained carbon molecule that gave this product its coating action and it's ability to climb gears... which DOES quiet down many "loud" gear systems.

Maybe "Bob" is spinning the test gears way faster than would be encountered in our trucks....but even so, the stand alone gear lube and oil look much better than they do with the Lucas!

In a auto tranny, foaming like that would be very undesirable, IMO!

Lucas Oil

I use this in my truck. What I did was put the bottle in a pot and heated it until it flowed more easily. Before I did this, I contacted Lucas and asked them if it was OK to do this. They told me "no problem".

I don't see where bob the oil guy heated the oil up to normal operating temps. Did I miss it? My understanding is, that once the Lucas is heated up, it mixes with the rest of the fluid.

RJ, if you read the discussion here http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/...c&f=5&t=000207
you will see that Bob had the same results with Lucas just using an eggbeater.
I wouldn't think that would be too fast.
I like one quote in the discussion--
"It reinforces my belief that if your current oil is not doing its job. Find a new oil not an additive to make the old oil better."
