low power under 2300 rpm

I have a 2002 Dodge 3500. I purchased the truck with 19000 miles. It is a Cummins with 6- speed. No Mod.
When I start it has ok power until it reaches approx. 2300 rpm then you feel a big increase in power. You can feel it more in 2nd and 3th gear.
Otherwise the truck runs great.
I have had several diesel truck even though i know very little about them and non of them have run like this.
Wondering if i have a problem to fix or if this is normal.

Welcome to the boring world of the "Dodge programmed" 24 valve Cummins. You have no problem at all, this is normal with the stock Dodge setup. Do some research on this forum and you will find plenty of suggestions as to how to improve the situation drastically. Unfortunately, most of them will void your warranty, which at only 19,000 miles, might not interest you.

Probably the single biggest improvement you can make for bottom end torque is a different ECM, namely the "MAD Catcher" ECM. It is a stock ECM reprogrammed by a fine young man in Italy. It does not add a ton more total fuel, but it mainly adjusts the timing and most importantly it alters the curve which tells the pump WHEN to add fuel. It is reported by hundreds of guys to make the engine AMAZING from right off of idle.

An Edge EZ box will improve your stock ECM quite a bit as well, but nothing like the MAD Catcher.

Just do some searches on this forum and you will find hours and hours of quality reading and you will quickly learn what to do with your rig to make you SMILE ear to ear every time you push the go pedal.
