Low Cost Mods that add Function
I have made a number of low cost "Mods" to my truck that I thought I would share with pictures.
1. storage box in front of the middle seat that provides lots of storage and hides valuables with a functional tray on top. The box is made of wood covered with grey marine vinyl. The tray is a cut-down plastic silverware tray. I mounted twin adjustable cup holders on the back of the box and in front of the middle seat drop-down compartment. The whole thing comes out with no screws. <5$ worth of scrap stuff
2. Fuel pressure and tranny temp gauges. These gauges are mounted on a fabricated (bent) piece of aluminum that fits where the ashtray assembly was. The aluminum is covered with grey marine vinyl. The tranny temp gauge is connected to a sensor on the out-line of the tranny using a modifed brass T from Home Depot <$5. Electric Gauges from Geno's.
3. My Mystery Switch for TC tranny Lock-up uses a momentary switch from Home Depot mounted in a "Pistol Grip" assembly made of pipe insulation styrofoam and covered with grey marine vinyl. <$5 for everything.

4. For RVing with my 5th wheel I made a 3 tub storage box unit in the bed. The unit opens from each side of the truck and from in the bed for the middle unit. It is light in weight, has 3 locked compartments and the whole thing comes out to use the truck for other things. The only thing holding the top on is the 3 locks and a little velcro. <$75 for everything (Marine Vinyl was not on sale or it would have been <$50)

DTR's Cow Boss
I cant take credit for this one as another member helped me out with this one. I have to very often back up large cattle trailers and horse trailers and hay trailers and its taken it toll on my clutch. So I added a lo range kit that allows to too turn the switch on and put my truck in four lo and only have the rears turning and the fronts locked out so i can maneuver around and still turn tightly. The controller is a simple vacuum actuator OH ya if your going to give me greif about my dirty motor its not a pavment pounder its a truck

I removed the center console and built a custom speakerbox enclosure. All the wood is 3/4" cabinet plywood left over from another project and I already had the speaker. All it cost is $10 worth of cloth from wallmart. The good part is nobody ever notices its there. Also made a custom woodgrain dash from Oak vener I picked up at Lowes with a CB mounted in the Cupholder hole
