low boost numbers

well im a little curious about my turbo, its a 71 series 64/14 and i have lasercut dvs, 435 injectors and a #4 fuel plate for fuel, i can't seem to get more than 48psi out of my turbo, the wastegate is adjusted all the way and i have a boost elbow put in, but only gained 6 psi from all that, why cant i get any more boost??? with all that fuel i should be boosting more, i was told the efficiency range for this turbo is 55psi any one have any ideas?? thanks

well im not to sure on the turbo you have (hy35 or hx35) but if you haven't adjusted the wastegate or put on a boost elbow, then 20psi sounds about right, although more is better, 35-38psi is tops for you turbo efficiency range.

Remove the boost elbow and insert a 1/4 inch pipe plug and see what happens. I only see 30 lbs with my 64 and it cleans up nicely at nearly 500 hp. Do you see smoke at full boost?

No I didnt buy the ez new, i bout it from a friend for a $100. I can see a little hase of smoke at full throttle. The only reason i ask, "is 20 not that much" is bc i had a friend install it and it was his first time doing it. I should have done it myself , But i dunno. i am ordering the elbow.. I will c if that helps.

on the dyno i didn't stop blowing smoke until i let off, turbo wouldn't go past 44psi, on the road i blow a little smoke at 46psi but it doesn't totally clear up.

the pyro climbs to 1500 real quick so i have to let out of it, my timing is only at 16.5 right now so maybe i'll bump it to 18.5 or something and see if it runs better.
