Love my Van Aaken but missing at 30mph

Engine runs very smoothly and quietly with increased gas millage but it seems like its missing (?) at about 30 -35 miles/hr under a slight load . Above or below or with a little more pedel things smooth out. I think this is also a shift point . Its very subtle but something is deffinately going on.

Codes?? Mine did something simular before injection pump problems except that my fuel mileage went south as well. You at least need to make sure of your lift pump pressure and go from there. For codes on your 02 just hold in the trip meter button when you turn the key to on. Good luck!

I get "chec" on the trip meter. Fuel pressure is OK. But I did have a problem of loss of pressure the other day on a low tank. Changed the fuel filter and the pressures went back to normal .

Mine does this with my EZ when it gets cooler out. In the summer, there is no problem at all. When it gets cool I have exactly what you describe. I have to disconnect the EZ and run only the TST during the winter. No one, including Edge, Cummins or Dodge have been able to explain what is happening. I feel that it has to do with too far advanced timing, that somehow is related to the temperature, either from the fuel being thicker, or from the actual intake air temp sensor allowing more timing.

I would call Van Aaken and let them know you are having a problem with your box. They will probaly ask you to send it to them so they can see if they can reprogram it. If you just bought it though, I would think that it would have some kind of warranty on it.

Trip meter and codes

Yea - I'll try DTR first and then go direct. But does the trip meter really give code readouts - that would be really cool. And in that case What does "chec" mean?

"chec" means just that - it's going through the test proceedure. You will see the guages run through the cycles and lights flash. After it's done with the test cycle it'll flash the codes. Something else you might want to check is the batteries. I have read some interesting stuff on here about minor batt voltage problems that show up as unusual shift points for autos among other stuff. Check your batt voltage after the engine has been off for awhile and introduce some load on them to see if anything shows up. Also look over the electrical connections in general.

Do you have the v5 or the r? I bought a new smartbox r about 2 months ago, and I noticed the same thing. Another thing, at WOT in 3rd and 4th, around 2500 rpm it will de-fuel for about a second then take off again. I can watch the boost drop from around 28 to 24-25 then climb back up to about 29-30 before I have to shift. I think I am going to send the box back in. If it comes back ok, I will let you know.
