Thumbs up Loose Steering

So today finally had some room in the shop to nudge the truck in there and commenced to adjusting the new steering gear box since i had put the new one on it was really crappy steering all loose n mushy but better than before and being a new box i figured i should not have to adjust it. Now it steers like a vette again So for any one with steering wheel play start there first and go to the majors once you started here.

P.S. Check your oil pan bolts as i found mine were loose at the back of the pan while i was under the truck

Yup. My first one wouldn't return to center after turning left, my second one puked fluid everywhere, and this one won't return to center after turning to the right.

I might do that this weekend if I get a chance. Did you just loosen the lock nut on the allen head screw and tighten down on it a little?

It works the best to do it from under neith its a major P.I.T.A. to try to do it from the top you cant get all your arms n wrench an allen wrench down there

Thanks for the tip. After changing 3 of these suckers out I'm getting good at contorting my arms.

The kicker for me was when I relocated my breather i just made a longer hose and tied it off on the fan shroud so it dumpes beside the steering gear so i got all this road dust n oil mix in my eyes

You and I think alike cause I did the same thing cept minus the zip tie. That hose sure does make an awful racket when it starts hitting the fan.

Ehh. I wedged mine between the frame and steering box. Saves money on zipties.
