Dave88lx, my roommate has a 12" drop bumper. I've got a 10" on mine now.

xj_punk, I like the nittos. They've lasted me the longest so far (a whopping year/30k) and still have about 1/4 tread left on them. They work alright in mud and stuff but suck in sand.

2k1yzfr1, nobody asked you.

duke1n, that's a sweet looking truck you got there.

Exactly why its done that way

I pull a trailer at least 3x a week, so i cant have it any taller.... Well yes i can but it be easier not too...

Thanks for the compliments fellas!

Oh yeah, here is to you BigBlue ANd well the open country tires get mass rancher praise down here, good tires, nd from what i hear good prices, they just started to be dealt, not too long ago here, im lookin at a serious set myself, The ranch truck at one of the places i frequent has them, and well they are good in sand, but not so much in the mud, he has them mounted on stock rims, 16 x 10? with your lift i dont think it would matter, id say those rims would actually help you in the sand with the wider print, and i know a certain Texan that has his eyes on the ones you have... he he he he he, have a good one...

What do you want to do with your truck?

I'm with TXdiesel, I am not going to 35's due to the towing, I tow a trailer 5 days a week, WAY more that I don't. I load a lot of stuff in an out of the bed and cab. It would just be more work with the added hight.

Plus I don't know of any 35's witn an E rating, but will soon be buying 285 M/T with the E sidewalls.

Eight plies work just fine

I have them unfortunately.. But you gotta watch the air pressure on them really well.. Ive towed 20K with mine, no problems just kept up on the tires and pressure..

Thanks for the compliments!!

I would usually agree with you TX, and I hate to disagree with a fellow texan...

But a buddy of mine had a tire failure a few months back... Kinda gave me a whole new respect for tires... So when I get my new tires (prob before year end) I want the little beefier construction. Make me feel better after his tire destroyed the front fender on his Ford...

But for general use I will admit you are right, most 3/4 tons out there have D's... and they work just fine.

But I am a little over cautious sometimes...

Plus I'm not as on top of checking air pressure as I should be sometimes... I usually do it about once a month.

Hmm i see your point..

Hey, i do value others opinions, dont worry bout it, The 20 K i towed was a 24 foot gooseneck full of steers, it came up to a 6K lb trailer and 28 lil fellas rangin from 450-500 lbs, some a lil over, tight fit but they did ok for a 45 mile haul, the 285 libbys were maxed at 65, they did squat, but bein that i have the lil bubbles, or fish eyes as u call em, i was able to watch them, thy held up ok, and lost 7lbs at the end of the trip, mind you i wouldnt tow this everyday, but my usual tows are a sixteen foot flatty, and a two horse trailer, when i go rope, S&H, pics coming soon.. The gooseneck, honestly i only tow a gooseneck when i work cattle, which is once every month or so, although i do want to buy one, Much more stable than bumpers Here and there when i pull a bobcat i will tow a 20 foot goose, But i pull way more bumper than goose, and dont usually tow over 7K lbs, which is why i stick with 285s, although next time around when i can afford better tires, i will go 10 ply... Even though i dont tow heavy that often (only done three times with my ram, backhoe, 20K of cattles, and two bobcats as most extreme) The added mileage life would be nice..

Bottom line... better safe than sorry...

Well

i got 65K outta the first set, well documented at least... i ran them for 20K miles, and they were eight ply, might have to look into the 10s, bein that i dont need a mud terrain, but they will be costly...

Wow an actual 285/16 tire in a load range E. And in a BFG all-terrain too. Nice tires... and they are darn proud of them too. Probably easily top $200 a tire I would guess. Youch!!! Too pricey for my blood, but I'm sure they would be great tires. I had a 31 inch on a half-ton and they were great. But definitely cheaper than I suspect these new ones will be.

Toyo makes an E-rated M55 in that size, but I doubt they're any cheaper than the BFGs. If I remember correctly, Interco makes a TRXUS M/T in that size and two or three larger sizes that's E-rated, as well.

Toyo M/Ts are E rated in 315, 285, and 265 sizes (75r16).

I'm going with 285 or 315 Open Country M/Ts, E-rated to 3700+ pounds!!
