Question Looking for fuel system advice...

I want to upgrade my fuel system to protect my new HRVP pump. I don't really have the bucks for a FASS. I was going to just put in some Geno's banjo fittings, but the more that I look at those tiny factory fuel lines the more leary I get. What about installing AN fittings and braided -6 from the Blue pump on up??? I would really like to keep the factory fuel filter because it seems to do a very nice job filtering. Any thoughts on this mod???

Also, if this seems like a viable solution, aren't the banjo fittings 12 x 1.5 thread or is it 14 x 1.5? I've measured them before, but I can't remember the exact size.

12x1.5. I going to do the same thing with 6 AN and using the old fliter housing as a heater only. I will have a filter before the pump.

Thanks for the size conformation RAF. I was just on Summit's website and it looks like I could get all 8 fittings/ends and a 20' roll of hose for about $150. That is for quality Russell stuff too, not that cheap junk.

How about the Vulcan big line kit! everything is allready figured out and even cheaper. $130
The FASS II is just the pump and all lines and fittings! Say $150 for lines and $225 for pump, not bad deal if you look at it that way! $375.00
Stock pumps are close to $200.

You can get the Bully Dog fuel system pretty cheap from Jegs.
i have it and love it, very affordable also.

Rick's right about the kit, makes it much easier. I did mine through Summit with the aeroquip lines and fittings. The Vulcan and Scotty setups hadn't come out yet or I would have went that route. Hardest thing to find were the washers, you'll find them at your nearest Cummins Dealer.

Actually, Aeroquip was the junk that I was refering to. Sorry, just my opinion and experience.

If you are going to have a poll about preferences between brands, you should direct it to people who have experience with all 3 commonly available brands: Aeroquip, Russell, and Earls. I have used all 3 brands and IMHO (and opinions are like...well, you know) Aeroquip fittings are not as nice as the other 2 brands. Do they work? Sure they do. But if you cut some braided hose and tried to install an end on the hose from all 3 brands, I have found the Aeroquip more difficult to work with than the other 2. Again, this is only my opinion and experience!
Okay, now back to the subject at hand. Could I get some more opinions on whether Geno's banjo fittings would suffice or should I run braided stainless and AN fittings?

I have used the banjo bolts from Geno's...If you are pulling the system apart anyway..us the AN fittings and lines and be done with it. Those banjo bolts dont gain you much..

man i just installed the scotty smart fuel line system and i love about 175 shipped very easy to in stall and everything you need is there.

Several folks have suggested installing one of the kits available from various vendors. Don't get me wrong, they all look like great products, but if I'm going to spend $150-$200 on fuel line I want it to be braided stainless steel. Is there a kit available in braided hose?
