Looking for FASS II installation Tips
Hey guys if everything goes right tomorrow I should have my FASS II waiting for me when I get home from work...
I was thinking up about breaking the installation up into 2 nights, but was wondering if it can be done in a few hours?
I have an extended cab with a short box, so I know installation is going to be a little tougher... I know I read somewhere that I should use a 90-degree fitting for the one fuel line to prevent it from kinking in the future... I was wondering what size and if this would be the only additional fitting I would need? Also is there any special way to route the line to the engine? Do you just zip tie it to the original line or attach it some other way? And finally would taking the rear wheel fender out give me a little more access to the top of the tank...
Any other tips/ideas would be greatly appreciated as well...Thanks...

Took me about 2 1/2 hrs to do mine, including beer breaks. If you want to use a 90 in the plumbing, you'll need a 1/2'' pipe male in/female out. I have one on mine. The directions say to mount the pump just ahead of the wheel well, but I installed mine just behind the cab. You'll know what I mean when you start the install. To instll like I did, the 90 is required. Also, don't use the quick connect on the pickup tube, just use a hose clamp. Also pick up some hose clamps, they only supplied 3, I used 6.

I found it easier to pop the stock quick connect at the tank off by squeezing in between the driveshaft and tank, or was it the exhaust....can't remember, but I fit. I was able to sit on the ground and actually see the connection. Kind of a pita since it was covered with a bit of road gunk.
Ditto on not using the quick connect at the tank p/u also....I used two hose clamp there.
I also had plenty of hose....about an extra 18 inches that I just put into a loop. That's with QC long bed.

I hose clamped every fitting, had to get about 4 more 1/2" hose clamps. My kit was missing the 90 fittting for the filter so I had to go get one. I also installed mine closest to the cab, so I bought a brass 1/2" street ell for the line out of the pump. Ran the extra hose and the wiring harness throught the holes into the frame rail, easy.Whole thing was maybe2-3 hours
( not counting the trip to the hose man store ). I agree that a 90degree drill attachment saved a little grief. The worst part was getting the factory line off the tank, had to remove the rear tire to get to it

I've reading all the posts on these FASS systems and they all seem to be missing pieces in the kits? It's not re-assuring to spend that kinda money on a product thats suppose to be a COMPLETE KIT?
