Looking for advice (re: fuel pump)

A couple years ago I had the dreaded lift pump and consequent VP44 failure. Dodge replaced the VP44 and to my surprise installed the in-tank pump at the same time. I had a FASS on the shelf, but hadn't gotten it installed. So now, I'm sitting on a FASS.

The in-tank pump appears to flow enough fuel, but the pressure is light. Idles at 7 psi, normal cruise at 5 psi and can be sucked down to 0 psi or near at WOT. The cludge of banjo fittings etc (factory retrofit kit) are likely part of the culprit. What amanagerie.

I'm looking for the best way to either defeat the in-tank pump or simply boost pressure after it. I'd also like to omit that cludge of fittings which now exist where the original lift pump lived.

I see BD has a pump similar to a FASS and also have a "kit" available for those trucks which have the in-tank pump. I could certainly sell my NIB FASS, but is this the best option? Anyone know the flow capacity of the in-tank pump? Anyone know what the BD "retrofit kit" consists of?

As a side note, the in-tank pump replaced the fuel level sender. Where the gauge used to be somewhat linear and the light came on with 1/8 tank/5 gallons, the light now comes on with about 2 gallons and the gauge barely makes it below 1/8 indication when run dry. It reisters way up above "F" and runs there for approx 10 gallons. Anyone got a fix to put the gauge readings more back in line (inline resistor, etc) with what's in the tank?

Pull the in tank pump, replace it with a DrawStraw V and use the FASS. You'll be happy!

to fix the gauge issue, maybe bend the arm, lower to correct the gauge inaccuracy.

ditch the intank pump!! 0psi is not good. as fishing says instal your fass and a drawstraw, and that will eliminate the mess of fittings that you are now stuck with

Limited info on the draw straw V (plus it's out of stock). I take it that the straw mounts to the module, eliminating the pump, but retaining the sender (I'm pretty sure they are a combined unit?)? I also presume the tank needs to be dropped to perform this task(?). I don't think the float has an "arm" but rather a vertical slide. Lot of presume/guesses here eh? LOL.

I can work around the gauge issue, but it would sure be nice to tackle both while I'm there. It was kinda nice having a reliable/accurate guage.
