Lockup switch warning light

I think everyone who has a lockup switch installed has at one time or another either stalled, or come dang close to stalling the engine.

I wanted to prevent that, so I wanted a light that would come on when I hit the brake, but only when the L/U switch was on. Because I used a lighted switch, I already had to run a relay to get the ground needed by the TC.

Off to Radioshack.

Attached is the way I wired the relay...

For the light, the other leg is connected to the wire on the 5-wire brake harness that goes 12v+ when you press the pedal. Lockup switch is otherwise connected as normal.

This is with the lockup switch on (far right)

Then when you hit the brakes, the light between the EGT and boost lights up. It doesn't look very bright, but it's RIGHT in your line of sight and more white than green, meaning it WILL get your attention. I bought the light a while back for another project, I believe it came from Waytek or Del-city, but any 12v light will work.

Very impressive

I haven't done a lock upswitch yet, might just get the controller from ats when they do the trans. Otherwise, I'd be doing it, and a light would be a great way to keep from stalling! Thanks for the tip, as I know others will feel too! Very clean install

Good idea. I got enough wires switches gauges and lights allready. Mine wont stall when i leave it locked found out twice. First time it was wet out and just kept pushing the truck scared the crap outa me. Second time was dry out and it actually made the rear start hopping and jumping the tires. Was pretty neat except i had all my windos open and it made a ton of smoke when bogging the motor down and filled my cab. Had to stick my head out the window for a few seconds.

not sure but couldn't you also wire it so when you hit the brake it unlocks or are some of you also using itas some sort of breaking device.

I do use it as a very minor assist in braking, and if you had an exhaust brake or were going to add one, you wouldn't have to re-wire the dang thing..

I know there is a way to wire up a TC indicator light that comes on when the TC is locked, but is there a way to wire up a light that comes on ONLY when the lockup switch is on?
