alright I called National drivetrain earlier, and the guy told me the didnt' make one for 4.10 ratio and down, So i called them again talked to the SAME guy and told him to look on his website where it say ALL RATIO'S and he's like "hmm YES we are showing one of these in stock" I'm thinkin for someone trying to sell stuff, they sure don't try very hard. But I guess that's the one I'll get as long as it's about the best??

Gotta love salesmen like that. He's probably too busy thinking about what to do to his own truck. If you need all the other internals for the carrier then I'd go with a detroit. If you internals were good and you were just looking for a locker I'd go with a No-Slip. Those things are indestructable. And that's from experience.

Detroits are pretty strong, but they do have some weak spots. They will lock up with almost any amount of throttle, making ice and snow driving interesting . You will learn to let off the throttle when turning a corner or the tires will bark . They will also put more stress on your axle shafts, if you bust a shaft under heavy throttle it will unload big time. If that happens plan on another full rebuild. You also need to watch the splines on your axle shafts for signs of twisting and fatigue. Stay away from lunch box lockers and true track LS with the HP you are putting down, they are made for light duty use.
Randys ring and pinion is also a pretty good place to call.

When he said weak points I don't think he meant strength. Just weak points as far as driving qwerks. It's interesting to learn to drive a truck with a locker when you first get one. Longer wheel base is much easier than a short wheelbase like a Jeep. The Detroit is about the strongest there is.

They have a cheaper one called the Lock-Right but it's kind of noisy and also not nearly as strong. I wouldn't recommend it for a full size truck or behind any diesel. I've seen it in a lot of Jeeps and you can hear it like a Detroit and they are fine for smaller rigs but I personally wouldn't use one in my truck.

Actually detroit doesn't make a locker for a 3.54 gear ratio, The only one they make is one for 4.10 gear ratio. I ordered one and it ended up being for a 4.10 so it wouldn't work with my 3.54 ratio. But they said the could cut some material of the ring gear and carrier to make it work for the 3.54 ratio, but as far as buying and puttin it straight in and rolling on, Detroit doesn't make a "TRUE" locker for the DANA 80 . But i have heard of people using one for a dana 70 called a heavey 70?
